He was preparing to enter the courthouse for a hearing when the lone gunman shot him at close range.<br/>

Hattar, a Christian, was arrested on August 13th after posting a caricature on his Facebook account that depicted a bearded man in heaven smoking in bed with women, asking God to bring him wine and cashews. He removed the cartoon shortly thereafter, saying "it mocks terrorists and their concept of God and heaven. It does not infringe God's divinity in any way".<br/>

It is not known who produced the cartoon. Many Jordanian Muslims found the cartoon offensive and against their religion. Authorities said Hattar violated the law by widely sharing the caricature. He was charged with inciting sectarian strife and insulting Islam before being released on bail in early September. Spokesperson of the Jordanian government, Mohammad Momani, condemned Hattar's killing as a "heinous crime".<br/>
<br/>
"The government will strike with an iron hand all those who exploit this crime to broadcast speeches of hatred to our community," he told the Petra agency.</div>

Kermiche had been arrested twice in both France and Switzerland for attempting to flee France to join ISIS in serious and was being monitored with an electronic ankle tag.<br/>

Both of them were shot and killed by police marksmen as they emerged from the building shouting 'Allahu Akbar' following the attack that also left a nun critically injured.<br/>

The attacks came on the heels of massive jihadi assaults in the Muslim world last week.<br/>
The deadliest occurred in Medina, where four people were killed and another person was wounded, an official with knowledge of the event told CNN. The city is a major spot in Islam because that’s where Prophet Mohammed is buried.<br/>
<br/>
The bomber, who died in the explosion, targeted security officers, but it is unknown precisely who was killed as at press time.<br/>
In Qatif in eastern Saudi Arabia, a suicide bomber attempted to launch an attack at a Shiite mosque but failed, killing himself in the process, according to an official with knowledge of the event. There were no injuries.<br/>
Near the United States Consulate in Jeddah, a suicide bomber killed only himself after detonating an explosive according to the state-run Saudi Press Agency. Policemen were injured in the attack.<br/>
<br/>
There were no claims of responsibility at press time. Attackers launched strikes last week in Turkey, Bangladesh, Yemen and Iraq,  killing scores of people. They are claimed or thought to be carried out by Islamic States. The strikes came as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan ends and Americans celebrate the Fourth of July, their independence day.<br/>
Reports said, early yesterday, the Saudi police became suspicious of a man who appeared to be roaming around a parking lot of a major hospital, the news agency reported. When officers approached him, the man detonated what appeared to be an explosive belt,. The explosion happened roughly 33 feet (10 meters) from the consulate’s wall.<br/>
Witnesses told CNN the blast occurred about 3 a.m. local time and that it appeared that at least two police officers were slightly injured in the attack. The Saudi news agency reported that the policemen were slightly injured and that they were taken to the hospital. The report did not specify how many were hurt.<br/>

None of the bystanders in the parking lot were injured in the attack, according to SPA.<br/>
Police found three devices inside the bomber’s car. A bomb disposal unit used a robot to detonate them, said a journalist who was on the scene.<br/>
The Saudi Interior Ministry is investigating the case, according to the SPA.<br/>

A U.S. State Department official told CNN that all chief of mission personnel were accounted for. The bombing came after a week of attacks in Turkey, Bangladesh and Iraq, which have left many on edge. In 2004, the U.S. consulate in Jeddah was attacked by gunmen linked to al Qaeda, who killed five employees.</div>

Authorities say Payne approached her and told her to take it off, she refused saying it was a religious headscarf, then he responded, "This is America!" He then removed the hijab from her head.<br/>
<br/>
The woman reported the incident to the Police and Payne got arrested. He was charged with using force or threat of force to obstruct a Muslim woman in the free exercise of her religious beliefs.<br/>
<br/>
He appeared in court on Friday and pleaded guilty to a federal misdemeanor charge.<br/>
<br/>
He didn't go to jail but was fined.<br/>

A professor at Christian college in the United States has been placed on leave for wearing a headscarf to show solidarity with Muslims.<br/>
Larycia Hawkins, a Christian and an associate professor of political science at Wheaton College in Chicago, was suspended on Tuesday.She however, defended her action, saying it was a demonstration of her own faith and that she began wearing a hijab to counter “vitriolic” rhetoric against Muslims in recent weeks.<br/>
<br/>
The college said in a statement Tuesday that it placed her on leave because of statements she made about similarities between Islam and Christianity on social media.<br/>
<br/>
“In response to significant questions regarding the theological implications of statements that Associate Professor of Political Science Dr. Larycia Hawkins has made about the relationship of Christianity to Islam, Wheaton College has placed her on administrative leave, pending the full review to which she is entitled as a tenured faculty member,” the statement read.<br/>
The school insists that Hawkins’ suspension doesn’t reflect on her desire to wear the headscarf, but rather the explanation she gave as to why she was wearing the headscarf.<br/>
The Chicago Tribune reports Hawkins said on social media that Christians and Muslims share the same God, despite some differences between the religion.<br/>
“I stand in religious solidarity with Muslims because they, like me, a Christian, are people of the book,” Hawkins wrote on Friday. “And [as] Pope Francis stated last week, we worship the same God.”<br/>
While Hawkins had received some support from her colleagues, Denny Burk, a biblical studies professor at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. told the newspaper that Hawkins didn’t clarify her statement well enough and claimed she denied Christian teachings.<br/>
<br/>
“We’re people of the book, but our books are very different. They’re witnessing to two different ways of salvation. The Bible is witnessing to Jesus Christ, the son of God. That’s unique of all the world religions, and that uniqueness was what I thought was missing from what she said,” Burk added.<br/>
Hawkins’ suspension will last through the spring semester and sparked protests on the Wheaton College campus from students who called for her reinstatement, according to the Tribune. Christian leaders also supported Hawkins at a news conference Wednesday.<br/>
Hawkins also told the news conference “I affirm the creeds of the church,” and added that she hopes for an amicable resolution with the college.<br/>
