Niger Delta group urges Lamido to contest 2019 presidential elections

The group in a statement by the president and secretary, Messrs. Etonye Karona and Akwagbe Ekenwan respectively, said: “We humbly and strongly call upon you to take up the gauntlet and contest the 2019 presidential elections in order to save this nation from the hands of an incompetent and vision-less APC administration.” 
 
 
 
Claiming that it appraised northern politicians of the party extraction before narrowing its choice to Lamido, IJF asserted: “We make this clarion call because you (Lamido) have the three most important qualities that a leader should possess, namely: imagination, courage and selflessness.” 
 
“A leader should have some core philosophy and belief against which he can judge the important issues as they arise. Unless he has that bedrock to fall back on, the unexpected storms that blow up will toss him about like a cork.” 
 
“These were the very attributes of the leader that you are that made you to stay back in the PDP while your former colleagues were blown up like a cork. Most of them, no doubt, must be silently grieving their misadventure in the land of the fairies.” 
 
“It is our sincere hope and belief that you will not let our call go in vain when the time presents itself. We shall selflessly work for you and stand by you whether rain or shine,” the group said.

Gen Mudoch Agbinibo, the militants allege that the dialogue being initiated by the Federal government with their group, is nothing but a delay tactic for an impending attack against them. They have now issued a warning to the government, threatening to destroy the country's economy. The statement read, 
 
 
"The NDA intelligence agency gathered that the said peace talk or dialogue by the federal government is a delay tactic employed by the federal government, to enable their purchased drones that are said to arrive latest end of August from the United State. This whole thing makes us to wonder what kind of country is this? We can all see that President Buhari led government is fraud. They are not serious about any dialogue and made it seems the Niger Delta Avengers are the ones not ready for dialogue. 
 
Mr. President you can purchase all the drones in Europe and Untied State. It won’t stop the Niger Delta Avengers from bringing the country’s economy to zero. The worse you can do is to kill poor innocent people which the military is good at but know the Nigeria Economy will suffer. Also note, you will not be able to export one litre of crude in the Niger Delta. Just intensify the oil exploration in the North East as for the ones in the Niger Delta forget about it because the Nigeria government won’t export a drop from our land."</div>

The group also warned against the deployment of helicopters in the South South zone by the military, saying it was going to bring them down. 
 
It also said once the deployment of the six missiles commences, no flight operations should take place within the country’s airspace. 
 
The group, which also claimed affiliation to the Niger Delta Avengers, said the missiles were capable of bringing down any aircraft no matter how big. 
It fixed June 7 for the commencement of the launching of the missiles. 
 
In a statement signed by four members of the JNDLF, the group said it had observed that President Muhammadu Buhari was bent on breaking up the country and that it was set for the proposal. 
 
The statement, signed by General Akotebe Darikoro, Commander, General Duties; General Torunnanaowei Latei, Creeks Network Coordinator; General Agbakakuro Owei-Tauro, Pipelines Bleeding Expert; and General Pulokiri Ebiladei of its Intelligence Bureau, reads in full: “We have seen and noted that President Muhammadu Buhari (a.k.a. Pharaoh) is set for the final breakup of the country. 
 
Mr. Buhari should also know that we are also prepared and set for his proposal. 
 
The Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC) which is the highest organ of all the freedom fighting body has finally endorsed the followings: 
 
1. After extensive and exhaustive deliberation by all Commanders of various groups in Yenagoa, the heart of the Niger Delta struggle met last night and as part of our mission, we are going to test six (6) of our MISSILES in the region. This is to show the federal government of our readiness of the American prediction. 
 
2. There should be NO any form of helicopter to fly around in the region as we will not guarantee the safety of such object. 
 
3. The people of the Niger Delta region should not be panic in course of test running the 6 MISSILES. 
 
4. We may also decide within the week to shut down the Nigerian satellite orbit, so that there will be no communication in the country if needs arise. 
 
5. Within our three (3) days operations, NO airplane should fly out of the country because it can target such object no matter how small or big it may be. 
 
6. Our Fighter Expert Team shall be position in the six (6) Niger Delta states, who are already arrived the region from training through our country’s porous borders with our foreign partners who are going to showcase what they have learnt in past on year. 
 
7. Our struggle is not for any human blood, but we have been pushed to the wall for justice because our patience is running out on daily basis as Nigerian uniform men killing our innocent people continuously. 
 
8. Nigerian military should as a matter of urgency leave peacefully the Ijaw communities they are presently in, the next 48 hours under the guise of searching for the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) or else we should not be blamed of whatever catastrophe that may befall on such officers and the likely affected families of the officers should blame not the region. 
 
9. We have consulted our war gods (deities) that enough is enough and that the time has come. Since the present Pharaoh of Nigeria, President Buhari is to preside over the disintegration of the country it is a good omen. 
 
10. Henceforth, any attack on Ijaw communities or person(s) by the military or para-military body in the region, we will not hesitate to order our shoot-at-sight squad of any uniform personnel in the region. 
 
11. We ask all Service Chiefs including Minister of Defence to shamefully resign their positions because Nigeria has no security in whatever form. Bravo to our Foreign Marine Crack Team for their ability to shut down Nigerian obsolete surveillance equipments. 
 
12. For the records, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) are not in Delta state, we only go there to strike and return back safely to the struggle base, Bayelsa state. 
 
13. We further warn especially Mr. Jonathan Obuebite, Information Commissioner in Bayelsa state not to criticize our activities any longer or else he has a choice of leaving the planet earth anytime he made such statement(s). 
 
14. All oil and gas operations should shut down immediately as our MISSILES testing will affect their equipments. 
 
15. NOTE, we shall commence MISSILES testing on Tuesday 7, June 2016 which coincide with the date of our training abroad. Since the present Pharaoh of Nigeria (Buhari) fails to our demands. We promised Nigerians and the entire world that we are going to surprise them.</div>

Niger Delta ex-war lord, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo has sounded another note of warning to President Muhammadu Buhari to stop playing with fire that will plunge the nation into armed conflict following the deployment of armed soldiers in the Niger Delta communities. 
He said the deployment of soldiers particularly in Gbamaratu community is annoying and urge the president to unconditionally withdraw soldiers from the region without further delay. 
 
A visibly angry Tompolo said if the soldiers deployed in the communities are there to effect his arrest, that is a sheer waste of time because it is a mission impossible that would escalate into conflict in the end. 
 
 
I have been doing legitimate business with the government over the years. I don’t know which law stipulates how to do business or otherwise. If the federal government has any issue with me, they should go through the due process. 
“You can’t send soldiers to destroy a community, arrest young men and rape women in the name of searching for Tompolo. If they claim that everybody in the Ijaw land is a criminal, does it also mean that everybody in the north is a member of Boko Haram? 
 
 
He urged President Buhari to heed the voice of reason now before the situation gets out of hand by withdrawing troops from Niger Delta communities who are reportedly committing atrocities in the area ranging from harassment, arresting of young men, raping of women in the communities and other crimes. This, he warned, is capable of creating tension and resulting in armed conflict.</div>

The million man protest is against Buhari’s over the planned closure of the Maritime University in Kurutie community of Warri South-West Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State. 
 
The protest march, according to the IYC, will be organized as a Youth Convention at the temporary site of the Maritime University, in Kurutie community and will involve various Niger Delta communities, Student Organisations, sympathizers of development education, the Higher Institutions of Learning in the region, and clans. Local and International Youth organizations are expected to halt the biased policies of the present administration against the people of the Niger Delta region. 
 
 
The President of the IYC, Udengs Eradiri announced the protest march during an interactive session with the media in Yenagoa. He argued that although the protest was not specifically targeted against President Muhammadu Buhari, its purpose was to send a message to the present administration that the people of the region are tired of retrogressive policies against the Niger Delta. 
 
Mr. Eradiri noted that the modalities for the planned protest will be announced in the next 7 days and invitations for the special convention will be sent out.

“It [the protest] is to show to the world that the President is too busy to closely monitor what is happening in the Niger Delta region,” the IYC President said. 
 
On the proposed cancellation of the Niger Delta Maritime University, Mr. Eradiri urged people not to castigate the former Governor of Rivers State and the Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for the announcement of the cancellation. 
 
“Amaechi is only a messenger sent by the Northern powers. Immediately after President Buhari took office,the first casualty was the NIMASA Managing Director. 
 
 
Immediately after the new DG took over,the first action he took was to suspend work on the Maritime University and the second action was to suspend funding for Nigerians undergoing studies in foreign universities because of a vendetta. So, people should not throw tantrums at Mr. Amaechi. This matter started in June and we have written series of letters to President Buhari,” Mr.Eradiri explained.</div>
