According to a statement released by Colonel Kukasheka Sani Usman, the spokesperson of the Nigerian army, the Lafiya Dole operation was carried out on Sunday, April 17 following a tip-off.

The statement read: “Following a tip off, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and some Civilian JTF today went on a clearance patrol to Borgozo-Alargano general area in which they discovered large cache of arms and ammunitions concealed by Boko Haram terrorists. 
 
“The patrol team also cleared remnants of Boko Haram terrorists that were dislodged from Alagarno forest hibernating at Kadari, Camp Abu Fatima and Gursum. 
 
 
“The troops discovered large cache of arms and ammunitions that include 36 boxes of .51mm calibre, 5 x 20 Lyra beefcake mixture of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, large quantity of 7.62mm (Special), ammunition and one 81mm mortar tube.

The army urged Nigerians to provide information that will help in decimating the terrorist group. 
 
“The Nigerian Army wishes to appeal to all Nigerians and in particular, the good people of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States to continue to provide useful information to troops in order to facilitate complete routing of the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents hiding in their localities.”

President Muhammadu Buhari promised that the insurgency will end in 2015 and while pockets of attacks are still recorded, the army has taken more proactive measures in preventing attacks and raiding enemy camps.

A team of police officers had already been deployed to the area to search for the kidnapped people. 
 
A federal legislator representing the area said those abducted comprise 14 women and two girls, they were taken in Sabongari Madagali, in Madagali local government of the state. 
 
 
Other sources added that some of the women were taken from a nearby bush where they went in search of firewood. 
 
Others were seized from a nearby river while fishing. 
 
Meanwhile, two women managed to run from the kidnappers by pretending to have drowned. 
 
The source said: “The two women who are in real state of trauma told us that the suspected Boko Haram insurgents had a field day carting away the women when their escorts ran away for their dear lives. 
 
“They left the women to their own devices as the gunmen were left unchallenged leading to the abduction of the said women.” 
 
 
The NASS member representing Michika/ Madagali Federal constituency, Adamu Kamale, confirmed the incident saying: “I just received the shocking news to the effect that about 16 women have been abducted by Boko Haram. 
 
“We have been witnessing pockets of attacks contrary to the belief that security has been fully restored in the area. As a member of NASS( National Assembly), I have been calling for the deployment of security personnel but to no avail as the government seems to have relegated our concerns to the background”. 
 
Almost two years ago the kidnapping of nearly 300 girls by Islamist extremists has sparked global outrage and an online campaign, Bring Back Our Girls.

Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have attacked Kuda village of Madagali local government area of Adamawa state. 
 
The terrorists killed at least 6 people and razed more than 20 houses in the attack. An aged woman was also allegedly burnt to ashes in the raging inferno. 
 
The source reports that the insurgents invaded the village at 9pm on Monday, February 15, when the villagers were preparing go to bed. They shot at fleeing villagers thus killing five persons and injuring several others. 
 
Eyewitnesses said that the heavily armed insurgents invaded the village on foot and carted away some valuables. 
 
Abubakar Kanuri, the head of Krichinga, whose village is close to Kuda village, confirmed the incident and revealed that the insurgents came through Malakwaya, a section of the Sambisa forest. 
 
 
The village head said that he had yet to learn the exact casualty figure. 
 
“But I know that one old woman was burnt to ashes because she couldn’t flee her home when the insurgents set her house ablaze,” he said. 
 
Kanuri said that scared people in the affected communities had fled to Gulak town and other places to seek refuge. 
 
According to him, the security situation in the area has worsened because the insurgents adopted different styles. 
 
“Today, they will invade our villages as rustlers, another day they stormed our villages in convoy of vehicles and some time they will use cattle to deceive us that they are normal herdsmen only to start killing people. 
 
“We need help in our area. Many are beginning to return but with current security situation, they may not return to these areas.” 
 
“These crazy boys are still hiding in caves inside Sambisa forest,” he added. 
 
 
One of the villagers, who gave his name as Usman, said that he was trying to recover from the terrorists’ attack unleashed on them last year, when he lost his property again to inferno that happened on Monday. He stressed that it was time to hunt for the insurgents but not to wait for another attack. 
 
“The best thing is to follow them to their hidings than allow them to continue to kill innocent Nigerians,” he added. 
 
Meanwhile, the Nigerian army has intensified its efforts in the war against the deadly Boko Haram sect. 
 
Colonel Sani Usman, the military spokesman, said that one of the patrol teams of 254 Task Force Battalion carried out clearance operation at Kubwa village in Borno state in which they arrested 2 suspected terrorists hiding among the community.

Several people were killed in a twin bomb blast that rocked the Gombi Grain Market in Adamawa State on Friday. 
 
An eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent said that the blast occurred around 2pm when the market was filled to the brim. 
 
It was stated that several people are looking for their loved ones who went to the market to buy grains. 
 
 
 
The sources said that two male suicide bombers carried out the attacks. 
 
It was further gathered that the youths of the community arrested one of the attackers with unexploded bomb strapped to his body. 
 
He was said to have confessed to his interrogators that five suicide bombers were deployed in the market for the operation, confessing that only two of the suicide attackers detonated their bombers, while two others were still hiding in the locality. 
 
The source said that about 15 people were killed in the attack with several others injured. 
 
The source said, “There was a bomb attack in Gombi Grain Market. The attack took place around 2pm when the market was filled with people. 
 
“The casualty figure is between 12 to 15 people while several others sustained injuries. Several people are looking for their loved ones who went to the market.” 
 
The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Rabe Abubakar, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, urged Nigerians to be vigilant and pay attention to the presence of mad persons in crowded areas and markets. 
 
He said that the insurgents had devised a new means of disguising as mad people to detonate their dangerous weapons in crowded places and markets. 
 
He said, “It is true that the incident happened. The general public should be aware of the new tactics of the Boko Haram members who have devised another strange method of disguising as mad people in order to carry out their heinous acts against the citizens. Nigeria should be wary of mad persons in markets and crowded places.”</div>
