-I want to appreciate you all very specially for your strategic position in history for a world without women will be a world of crisis. 
 
-Government is not expected to do business, it is expected to create enabling environment, that is what we are doing right now. 
 
-You are all help mates and companions we can never wish away. 
 
-We have to rediscover Ekiti women and tell them they can be where they ought to be, women should be respected and appreciated. 
 
-It is not what has gone wrong, it's about how we can catch up with the lost grounds. This event will henceforth be celebrated in Ekiti. 
 
-Before we were born, our fathers have always harassed our mothers, we can't afford to continue that way. There is no life without a woman. 
 
-It is very irresponsible and reckless for a man to beat his wife. Allow your wife the right of place in your home. 
 
-Some of us don't have the attitude we are supposed to have because of the way we treat our wives, there must be a change of attitude. 
 
-Let us expose our women so they can become ministers and even presidents, our case cannot be different. 
 
-My wife is very beautiful, if I don't celebrate her, who will I celebrate? 
 
-I have 5 sons, I have no daughter but I look forward to a day I will begin to harvest daughter in-laws. 
 
-If the home front is not right, the system will have problem. 
 
-My provost, stand up, this woman taught me in ND 1 and 2 in the polytechnic, today I am her boss, that is the irony of life. 
 
-As a parting gift for Olori Ajero(a civil servant) in the spirit of Women's Day Celebration, I upgrade her from Executive Secretary to the position of Permanent Secretary with immediate effect. 
 
-Tomorrow at the Stadium, I will appoint two other women, don't ask me who. 
 
-Commissioner for Agriculture, are you here? Provide for me 200 female farmers, I will support them with #200m immediately! 
 
-Our women must go beyond the kitchen and the other room, I have told wife to call all the Oloris, we must achieve this agenda of making our women visible. 
 
-I want to leave this state with landmarks, the governor’s office will the there after my departure, the High Court Complex will be there for life, I want to thank you very much Mrs Alade, Mrs Faseluka, wife of the speaker and our Senator of the federal republic, Abiodun Olujimi. 
 
-Join me to produce a governor that will listen to you, I will never allow my personal interest thrive, whosoever you ask us to follow we shall follow. Whoever will be there we shall put there through you, we shall put the person there together. 
 
-My house of assembly members, stand up for recognition, I appreciate you.

Fayose made the remark, shortly after his counterpart from Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson announced him as the new Chairman of the PDP governors’ forum, on Friday in Abuja. 
 
Speaking on his new role, Fayose said he accepted the responsibility to work as chairman of the Forum. 
 
The governor promised to work with stakeholders, including the National Assembly, to restore the glory of the PDP. 
 
According to Fayose, “I take this responsibility at a time the party needs somebody to stand up. I am sure you all know that we will do it to represent Nigerians well. 
 
“It is a call to pull the walls of Jericho down; it is a call to make a difference. 
 
“I want to assure you that within the next few months, the mobilisation, the consultation will be so effective and there will be a new beginning for our party – different and enriching. 
 
“I will take over from where he stopped. Come 2019, we will take over again; we are going to come back again.” 
 
Earlier, Dickson while making the announcement said, “As an integral part of the discussion, the governors of our party, among ourselves, as well as those who were unavoidably absent, unanimously appointed a new PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman. 
 
“In line with the tradition of our party, we agreed to appoint our colleague, the most senior governor in PDP, Ayodele Fayose, the governor of Ekiti as new Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. 
 
“You are all aware that he is a committed party man, doing a wonderful job in his state. He is well experienced and committed to the ideals of our party. 
 
“We have all unanimously appointed him as the new Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum to coordinate the affairs and activities of our forum and to work and collaborate with other structures of our party,” Dickson said.</div>

At the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti, Fayose challenged the legality of EFCC freezing his accounts. His lawyer, Mike Ozekhome has already filed a suit on the matter. 
 
On July 4, EFCC filed an affidavit at the court leading to an adjournment of the case as requested by Ozekhome to enable him time to address the allegations. 
While the APC, joined by Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) and other anti-Fayose groups trooped to the streets of Ado Ekiti to protest alleged looting of the state’s commonwealth by Governor Fayose, challenging the governor to waive his immunity and submit himself for probe, the governor’s aide, Idowu Adelusi, dismissed their allegations as spurious . 
Adelusi said asking the governor to waive his immunity amounts to “ranting of an ignorant lot.” 
Describing the freezing of Fayose’s accounts by the EFCC for allegedly containing N1.3 billion slush fund from the office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd), to fund the governor’s campaign in 2014, as a right step, the protesters passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and his anti-corruption war. 
They urged the EFCC to dig deep into the finances of the state and prosecute whoever was indicted in the looting of its treasury. 
APC acting Chairman in the state, Mrs. Kemi Olaleye, said: “We are tired of immunity clause. 
“Immunity has become impunity in Ekiti. We condemn Governor Fayose’s corrupt tendencies. Things must change. 
“The EFCC must do its job and ensure that looters of Ekiti are brought to justice.” 
But Adelusi, countered. He said: “The APC protesters asking Fayose to waive his immunity are doing so out of ignorance and desperation to win the state in 2018 knowing that their aim can only be achieved if Fayose is out of the way. 
“But, it is a failed agenda because we are ever ready for them on daily basis like soldiers guarding entrance of military formation. 
 
“They should know that this is 2016 and not 2006. 
“Their agenda is about 2018 and their game plans are what we are now seeing; using the EFCC to concoct lies and using the media to disparage Governor Fayose, but, they cannot go far. 
“For now, the APC should not be too desperate for Fayose to defend himself against the myriads of allegations. 
“Rather, they should wait till 2018 for the governor to submit himself to the EFCC as he did in 2007. 
“Till now, even the EFCC has not accused Fayose of stealing Ekiti money and if it is concocting one, we shall meet in the court at the appropriate time.”

The group, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its patron, Prof. T Akinyemi , said that by repeatedly condemning President Buhari, Fayose was indirectly mocking himself because the President had good intentions for the country. 
 
The group, however, said it supported Fayose’s advice that old men within the PDP should take the backstage in the party’s affairs. 
 
The statement read, “We would like Fayose to stop ridiculing himself in his efforts to attack Buhari. Buhari has good intentions and he is a man we all respect, irrespective of his political affiliation. Moreover, the office of the President deserves the respect of all Nigerians. God is the one who puts people in power. We condemn Fayose’s unguided, repeated attacks on Buhari. It is better to keep shut if you have nothing to say.” 
 
The group also asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to probe the governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, over alleged diversion of government funds for campaign purpose. 
 
While calling for the scrapping of the present Board of Trustees of the PDP, the group said only Senator Bode Olajumoke was credible enough to lead the party in the South-West.</div>

More reactions have continued to trail Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose’s letter to the Chinese Government, asking it to refuse President Muhammadu Buhari’s request of $2 billion loan. Lawyers drawn from the Ikeja and Ikorodu branches of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos State and other lawyers, yesterday condemned Fayose’s action, describing it as mere irritant and inconsequential. 
 
President Buhari had last week paid a state visit to the People’s Republic of China with some state governors, the Central Bank governor and some ministers. 
 
The president had concluded negotiations for the loan and a currency swap deal with the Chinese authorities as part of efforts to revive the Nigerian economy in the face of dwindling oil revenues. 
 
On April 12, Fayose had reportedly jetted out to China while Buhari was there, urging the Chinese authorities to refuse the facility being requested by the Nigerian Government. 
 
He said “all Nigerians, irrespective of their political and religious affiliations were against any applications for new foreign loans.” 
 
This, he said, was on the grounds that servicing current debt burden already gulps over 25 per cent of the country’s annual budget. 
 
Reacting to Fayose’s letter, a former Chairman of Ikeja Branch of NBA, Mr Onyekachi Ubani, described the letter as of no consequence, since negotiations had already been concluded. 
 
“The letter by Fayose is similar to a situation of bringing a motion for a court injunction for a completed act. 
 
“This letter is a mere irritation especially coming from a sitting governor; I will urge Nigerians and especially journalists to regard his letter as nothing, but a mere irritation. 
 
“Negotiations are already concluded and the Chinese government are willing to release funds to Nigeria. 
 
“Although, it is very disheartening that such a letter is coming from one of our governors, but I think it serves no purpose,” he told NAN. 
 
Ubani, urged Nigerians to resist any act capable of disrupting the smooth running of government. 
 
In the same vein, the Ikeja Branch Chairman of NBA, Mr Yinka Farobi, described the letter as “over stepping of one’s boundaries. 
 
“Fayose was elected as a state governor and not as the president of Nigeria. His letter is clearly out of the purview of his powers and I seriously condemn it,” he said. 
 
Farobi also urged Nigerians to be supportive of moves aimed at positioning Nigeria for growth. 
 
Again, the Ikorodu NBA Branch Chairman, Mr Dotun Adetunji, described the letter as a show of rascality. 
 
He noted that although “there is a provision for immunity for a sitting governor, there must also be a limit on the activities of a leader.” 
 
In his words: “There are 36 states in the federation and out of these states, only one governor has courage to write to a foreign authority, urging it to refuse funds to its Federal Government. 
 
“To my mind, such action is really reprehensible and should be discouraged. 
 
“There is no problem with being in opposition, but If you want to be in opposition, you conduct such opposition in a reasonable manner,” he also told NAN. 
 
Adetunji urged Nigerians to show support for the incumbent government in a bid to promote development, saying: ”We must be careful as Nigerians for whatever we do today will be recorded as our history tomorrow.” 
 
Mr Spurgeon Ataene, a lawyer, said:“If the loan being sought by the Federal Government is for the purpose of revamping the battered economy, then we should not have a problem with that. 
 
“The only thing we should demand from the government is that the loan should be used for the purpose for which it is obtained in the first place. 
 
“To that extent, all Nigerians must be watchdogs and at all times demand that the benefit of the 2 billion dollar loan must trickle down to the masses. 
 
Another lawyer, Mr Ola Ogunbiyi, said Fayose’s action fell short of the status of his exalted office. 
 
“Fayose is a `security risk’ working against national interest, I think he has too much freedom and should be cautioned all because we are in a democratic rule. 
 
“What he said was wrong, we all know the loan is for our economic growth, for him to have written a letter to another country is wrong. 
 
“The picture he tried to paint is that there is no unity, we have no united front by going to counter the action of the president. 
 
“We all know the President is trying to pave way for the citizenry to have a good business relationship with other countries, but we can see Fayose blackmailing not only the government but the nation as a whole.”</div>

Over 200 pupils of the school were reportedly abducted in 2014 by the terror group. 
 
The governor said the report was politically motivated to influence public opinion against the Goodluck Jonathan administration ahead of the 2015 general elections. 
 
Fayose spoke while declaring open a two-day workshop on “Political Aspirants Capacity Enhancement” organised by Women Arise for Change Initiative. It was organised for women from Ekiti, Osun and Ondo states. 
 
He said, 
 
“Today, many opposition leaders are underground. I don’t think any of these girls is missing; it is a political strategy. Who is fooling who? If you wanted to use it to remove some people, you have succeeded already. 
 
“I don’t know if there are missing girls but no indication has shown that. It is a political strategy, because I don’t think any girl is missing. If they are missing, let them find them.” 
 
The governor also took a swipe at #BringBackOurGirls campaigners, saying some of them are using it to look for appointments. 
 
He lamented that human rights groups had decided to keep quite since President Muhammadu Buhari came on board. 
 
Fayose said, “I’m concerned about the activities of human rights groups. Today the government of the day is obeying court order of their choice, while human rights are not respected. 
 
“We must talk about government providing cover for criminals. You are now using that person to harass innocent person. You will never have peace when you hide justice.” 
 
He added, 
 
“Police came into town yesterday (Tuesday) to arrest political opponents. If you like, demonise me, I will demonise you. I don’t need the police and the SSS (Department of State Services) to walk in my state. It is when you are not popular that you walk with police. 
 
“Any government that rises against me, that government will come down. I’m Peter the rock. By engaging me, you make me more popular and relevant and then court sympathy. I’m one person that is going places. That is why all these challenges are against me.”</div>
