A source reports that the killer squad begged the state government as well as the police to forgive them.

This was contained in a press statement released by the spokesperson of the DSS, Tony Opuiyo. 
 
The statement adds that a gang of kidnappers that had earlier kidnapped five Igbo women and collected the sum of Thirteen Million Naira (N13m) as ransom have also been arrested. Also arrested is a Boko Haram IED specialist in Kano state. Read the statement below.... 
 
1. As part of its commitment towards improving security across the country, the Department of State Services (DSS), has sustained tactical and counter-terrorism operations which have yielded major successes with the arrest of terrorists and other criminals across the country. 
 
2. On 22nd August, 2016, one Samuel ASUQUO, a kidnap kingpin was arrested by the Service at Nasarawa Bakoko village in Cross River State. ASUQUO was the mastermind of the kidnap of three (3) Australian staff of Lafarge Cement Company, for which his gang received ransom of one hundred and fifty million Naira (N150m) 
 
3. Similarly, on 30th August, 2016, the trio of Bamaiyi MUSTAPHA (aka Dan Borno), Aminu ISA and Hassan SHEHU, members of a notorious kidnap gang operating around the Abuja-Kaduna axis, were arrested at Lafia, Nasarawa State. The gang had earlier kidnapped five (5) Igbo women and collected the sum of Thirteen Million Naira (N13m) as ransom. They were subsequently arrested by the Service while planning a high profile kidnap in Abuja. 
 
4. In another operation carried out same day at Tamburawa village along Kano-Zaria Expressway, Kano State, Alhassan MUSA and Ado Yusuf, members of a notorious kidnap/armed robbery syndicate operating from Falgore forest in Doguwa LGA, Kano State, were also apprehended. 
 
5. On 19th August, 2016, two (2) 
kidnappers operating in Zamfara and its environs were arrested. They are Abdulrasheed IBRAHIM and Aliyu UMAR. The duo had been terrorizing residents of the area along with a kidnap group headed by Buhari General who is still at large. 
 
6. Also, on 26th August, 2016, two (2) notorious kidnappers, armed robbers and assassins; Moses ACHIA and Fanen IGBETAR, were arrested at Kperlegba Village, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. One (1) AK-47 rifle, five (5) fully loaded AK-47 magazines, one hundred and fifty rounds of live ammunition and one pistol loaded with fifteen rounds of live ammunition were recovered from them. The syndicate had planned to kidnap a female business tycoon in Makurdi, Benue State. 
 
7. On 3rd Sept, 2016, a kidnapping gang under the coordination of one Sunny ISAAC/late, which has been terrorizing residents in States of the South-East zone, was busted by the Service at Aba in Abia State. Prior to their arrest, the gang had masterminded series of kidnapping incidents in the State, including the abduction of one Uche IKONNE/f, an American citizen in the State. Other members of the gang arrested by the Service include Nnaoma AMAK, Chiedozie EBERE, Bartholomew MICHEAL, Chinweotito INNOCENT and Celestine IKARANGWAN, while the following items were recovered on them during the time of arrest; the sum of Four Hundred Thousand Naira only (N400,000.00), a Double-Barrel gun with two (2) live ammunition, a Toyota-Corolla car, a Volkswagen Golf car, and the mobile cellphone of the IKONNE/f. 
 
8. In another development, this Service has arrested one Abbas MOHAMMED at Asokoro, Abuja. Subject was sending several threat messages to the Ukranian Ambassador to Nigeria. Preliminary investigation revealed that MOHAMMED was formerly employed by the embassy as a driver but he began threatening his former employer after losing his job arising from observed gross acts of insubordination from him to his employers 
 
9. On the economic front, this Service is currently intensifying action against high level fraudsters whose unwholesome activities is negatively affecting investors confidence with multiplier risk to genuine businesses nationwide. Accordingly, one Izuagie MOHAMMED was arrested in Benin City, Edo State on 24th August, 2016, for impersonating the Accountant General of the Federation. MOHAMMED had already defrauded unsuspecting members of the public posing as the Nigerian AGF on Facebook and promising them facilitation of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) empowerment loan, before he was apprehended by the Service. 
 
10. In a further action, on 28th August, 2016, Taiye ALADE and Ajoke KOLAWOLE were also arrested by the Service at Fabian Hotel, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The duo had cloned the GSM number of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (GMD NNPC), and were using it to defraud his close associates. 
 
11. Also, one Mike EWUGBARA a known child trafficker was arrested at Okigwe, Imo State on 26th August, 2016. Three (3) kidnapped children were rescued from his hideout including one Miracle who was abducted in Benue State. 
 
12. In response to the regrouping of Boko Haram elements in Kano State, the Service in concert with the military, carried out coordinated operations in the State which led to the apprehension of two (2) high profile members of the sect, namely; Ibrahim Ustaz ABUBAKAR and Idris AUDU (aka AYA). AUDU is an IED specialist who was being groomed to penetrate security agencies in the country. AUDU had already perfected plans to seek for recruitment into the next recruitment scheme of the Nigeria Army, before his arrest. 
 
13. The Service wishes to assure all law abiding citizens and residents that it will not rest on its oars in its determination to ensure a safe environment for all to carry out their legitimate business. The Nigerian Army on Tuesday said its officer kidnapped on Sunday has been killed by his abductors. 
“The Nigerian Army wishes to regrettably inform the public that Colonel Samaila Inusa, who was kidnapped on Sunday 27th March 2016, was found dead today at about 6.00pm,” spokesperson for the Army, Sani Usman, said in a statement. 
 
“Preliminary investigation revealed that most likely the late senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors. This is because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State. 
“Arrangements are in progress to move the body to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna. May His soul rest in peace, Amen. 
 
 
“We wish to state in unmistakeable terms that whoever is behind his abduction and murder would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law.” 
Mr. Inusa, a colonel, was seized in his Mercedes-Benz car by gunmen around Kamazo, along Kaduna Refinery Road, in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State on Saturday. 
 
A statement by the 1 Division of the Army had said “the abductors dropped off Colonel Inusa’s wife and left with him in his car. The car headed towards Abuja.” 
 
On Sunday, the Army offered a N500,000 reward for anyone with useful information that could lead to the rescue of Mr. Inusa. 
 
Late on, army authorities raised the reward offer to one million naira, promising to give adequate protection to anyone who provided useful information, and that such tip-off would be treated with utmost confidentiality. 
 
There were reports in Thisday newspaper on Sunday quoting an intelligence officer as saying the abduction of the officer might be a revenge mission by the Shiite Islamic sect against the Army over the deadly clash with the group in Zaria last year. 
 
But the group swiftly responded, denying responsibility for the abduction of the Colonel. 
In a statement on Monday by Ibrahim Musa, the President, Media Forum of the group, said the report linking the Shiites to the abduction was “false, unsubstantiated and mischievous claim, that looks more like a planned operation aimed at painting the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) black.” 
 
Mr. Musa added, “We wish to categorically state here that the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of His Eminence, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has never, is not and will never engage in any form of crime to meet any of its objectives. Crime and criminal activities are fundamentally sinful and are not in our character. 
“The Islamic Movement knows that due to official administrative ineptitude and official negligence of constituted authority, a lot of crimes including kidnapping are prevalent in the country.”</div>

Chief Nengite, 72, a retired lecturer of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, was abducted from his Otuoke country home on February 17 alongside with his younger cousin Samuel Okies. 
 
 
The former president insisted that he was not going to pay any ransom to the abductors whatsoever. 
 
The Bayelsa state police commissioner Peter Ogunyanwo revealed Jonathan’s position during a parade of 37 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers at command headquarters. 
 
Ogunyanwo hailed the position taken by Jonathan, saying that it would discourage other criminals against kidnapping. 
 
 
“On the kidnap of the foster father of former president Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Inegite, I have met several times with the former president on the matter and he has insisted that he is not going to pay ransom,” he said. 
 
“The kidnappers have reduced their ransom to about N2million but the former president said he would not pay ransom. We are on the trail of the kidnappers and we will get them. 
 
“People should not pay ransom. Just like Governor Seriake Dickson also did not pay ransom for the freedom of his sister, people should be discouraged to pay ransom so that the business of kidnapping would stop.”

The state police commissioner went on to claim that since he assumed his post, the command has put in place a robust anti-crime strategy. 
 
He noted that while criminal elements are devising various ways to commit crime, the police command is up to the task. 
 
Ogunyanwo who also disclosed that his men foiled a kidnap attempt of the newly sworn-in chairman of the state environmental sanitation authority, Hon Robert Enogha, called on members of the public to come with useful information that would ensure that criminal elements are not allowed to operate in the state.</div>

The arrest was confirmed on Wednesday, March 16. Astonishingly, the 34-year-old suspect, Best Odeh in his confessional statement, revealed that members of his gang were responsible for series of abductions in Oghara community. 
 
According to The Vanguard, the suspect gave the identities one of their abducted victims simply as Candy, revealing that the sum of N500,000 was collected as ransom for his release.. Others according to him, were one Mrs Avi Omotie of Ovade village, Oghara and Mrs Rose Asuai. 
 
He said: “We kidnapped Mrs Omotie last year while Mrs Asuai who lives at Oghara junction was also kidnapped last year, precisely on October 8, 2016. Members of my gang are Alaba Gold, Godstime Ekwereme. They both live in Oghara village, while our leader is Onos Okerobo, he is from Otumara village in Oghara. Our targets are usually from Oghara and are usually those we know their financial status. I went into kidnapping because I had nothing doing, no hand- work , no job. 
 
 
“I did not even go to school” he said without any sign of remorse. 
 
 
Confirming his arrest, spokesperson for the Delta state police command, Celestina Kalu said: “In the continuous manhunt for kidnappers terrorizing Oghara axis, detectives attached to Oghara division while acting on a tip off,arrested one Best Odeh of Otumara village. 
 
During interrogation, he confessed his membership of a notorious kidnap gang headed by a wanted kidnap kingpin, one Onos Okerobo of Otumara village, Oghara. Items recovered from him included an improvised single barrel cut to size gun. 
 
“Meanwhile, investigation is ongoing while manhunt for other members of the gang continues,” the police spokesman said. 
 
In the same vein, about 52 suspected criminals have been arrested and detained by the Delta state police command in connection with various crimes. 
 
The state commissioner of police, Alkali Baba Usman, who announced the harvest of the suspects while parading them before journalists at the command’s headquarters in Asaba, the state capital, disclosed that 27 of them were arrested on the night of March 2, during a raid in Asaba.</div>

Patience’s parents had reported her missing since August 12, 2015, with unconfirmed reports suggesting she was kidnapped and taken to the palace of the sultan of Sokoto for forceful conversion. 
 
 Aminu Tambuwal, the state governor, ordered investigation into the saga after it became a media item during the week. Patience, who was 14 at the time of her abduction, was found on Friday night at the house of one Malam Ibrahim, who calls himself Sarkin Baki (“king of strangers”).

“The Sokoto State Human Rights Commission, along with the team set up by the police, questioned suspects and detained three persons in connection with the issue.” 
 Some hisbah (Sharia police) personnel had taken Patience to an imam in Runjin Sambo area of Sokoto with a claim that she wanted to convert to Islam. 
 
 “Weighty decision” 
The imam asked of her age and was told she was 14. He sought the opinion of the Sultanate Council who directed the imam not to proceed because she was underage and could not make such a “weighty decision” yet. 
 
He was instructed to let her go, but the Imam then informed the hisbah. Rather than let her return to her family house, they took her to the Sarkin Baki who claims he provides residence to indigent persons. 
 
 The “king of strangers” then kept her in his house since September. 
 
 
When investigators met with him Friday night, Patience was seen with his other children and family members. He claimed he adopted the girl because he didn’t want to let her be with the hisbah. He, however, allowed her to be attending both Islamic and government junior secondary school for her education. 
 
A police source told TheCable that when interviewed, Patience claimed she was afraid of returning home because of possible reprisal from her siblings. The alarm Paul Isaac Adaji, father of the teenager, had raised the alarm about her daughter’s disappearance, but it did not gain traction until the case of Oruru started playing out. Adaji, an Idoma from Benue state, said his daughter was forcefully abducted by hisbah in Gidan Kukah, Runjin Sambo area Sokoto, on August 12, 2015. 
 
 Tambuwal, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Imam Imam, directed that the matter be investigated. The inspector general of police then took up the matter.</div>

She was said to have placed much hope in pledges by security agencies to rescue them by yesterday. 
 
She was let home yesterday from the hospital after treatment. 
 
The Nation gathered yesterday that the kidnappers were insisting on a N10million ransom, despite pleas by the woman’s family, who it was learnt have raised a million naira. 
 
A source familiar with the development said:”the woman had high hopes that the girls would be rescued last night but when the kidnappers insisted on N10million, the woman whose family has raised a million Naira collapsed. 
 
“She was rushed to a hospital on the mainland where they live. She was hospitalised but much later, she returned home. 
 
“She has also been fasting since the girls were kidnapped. The kidnappers are still insisting on N10million. They have refused all pleas to accept the one million Naira the family has raised,” said a source. 
 
The Lagos State Police command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police said she was not aware of the collapse. 
 
“That information is not at my disposal,” she said. 
 
But she said the police had intensified their efforts to rescue the girls, and was hopeful the girls would soon be reunited with their loved ones</div>

Mr. Samuel Oki, a nephew of former President Goodluck Jonathan, was today found dead in a creek in Otuoke community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. 
 
The 35-year-old was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday alongside the 72-year-old foster father of Jonathan, Chief Inengite Nitabai. 
 
It was learnt that some fishermen from the former President’s community in Otuoke, discovered Oki’s decomposing body floating on Otuoke river while fishing, two days after the abduction. 
 
 
 
Some indigenes of the community said though many were not aware of Oki’s whereabouts during the abduction of Nitabai, the discovery of his body in the creek has, however, heightened their fears of Nitabai’s safety. 
 
Some community members claimed that the sound of gunshot heard during the abduction of the septuagenarian might have been targeted at the deceased. 
 
A community source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said “We are worried about the safety of our uncle, Chief Inengite Nitabai. The men that abducted them have killed Oki and we pray they don’t touch our uncle.” 
 
The deceased, community sources said, was always seen in company with Nitabai. 
 
The villagers, who were reportedly seen discussing the sad incident, alleged that the young man (Oki) tried to resist the kidnappers. 
 
According to them, divers and local fishermen had recovered the body and anchored it by the riverside to prevent the body from being washed away. 
 
This is the second time Nitabai has been kidnapped. He was first kidnapped On February 28, 2014 and later freed by security forces on March 10, 2014.</div>

Gunmen on Wednesday struck in Otuoke, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s hometown, abducting the ex-President’s first cousin and foster father, Chief Inengite Nitabai. 
 
The 72-year-old Nitabai, a prominent chief of Otuoke in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, was whisked away at about 3.30am in his residence by seven heavily armed men. 
 
Though details of his abduction were sketchy, a security source, who craved anonymity, told THE PUNCH that the gunmen allegedly gained access to Nitabai’s residence from the back through the creek. 
 
The victim’s residence is located beside a creek, some distance away from a military checkpoint close to the Otuoke bridge, off the Onuebum-Otuoke Road. 
 
Nitabai is described as the head of the compound from where the former president hails from. 
 
It was learnt that the septuagenarian, though cousin to the former president, had been acting as father figure to Jonathan since the death of his (Jonathan’s) biological father. 
 
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, confirmed the abduction. 
 
Butswat said, “On February 17, 2016, at about 0330 hours, seven unknown gunmen abducted Chief Inengite Nitabai in his residence in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area. 
 
“A massive manhunt has been launched by a combined team of Marine Police and Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, to rescue the victim and arrest the abductors. Investigation is ongoing.” 
 
Nitabai was abducted two years ago by 10 armed men and spent about three weeks in the kidnappers’ den before he regained freedom. 
 
Upon his freedom in March 2014 when he was 70 years old, Nitabai, a former university lecturer had narrated his ordeal on how his abductors fed him with garri and oil for the gruelling three weeks he was held captive. 
 
He had also said throughout the period of being held hostage, he was blindfolded.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Alkali Baba Usman who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists in Asaba on Thursday, said the suspects upon interrogation confessed to the crime, adding that they are responsible for kidnapping many staff of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH) in recent times. 
 
He said: “In process of our investigation, we found that idle youths aid kidnap suspects in executing their evil act, for instance, over 20 staffers of DELSUTH were kidnapped and released in the last one month, and the suspects confessed that idle youths in Oghara assisted them.” 
 
 
The police boss disclosed that the suspects were arrested with the help of various vigilance groups, adding that they would be charged to court when investigations are completed. 
 
“Oghara, Sapele, Ogwashi-Uku, Issele-Uku are flash points where these kidnappers operate, we will bring all of them to book” the Police Commissioner said.</div>

The victims were actually returning from Owerri to Port Harcourt after attending a wedding. 
A patriotic citizen, who from a hiding place witnessed the incident, informed the police that kidnappers whisked away the victims abandoning their vehicle, Lexus jeep RX 300 by the road side. 
 
 
The police after recovering the vehicle got information sequel to robust intelligence that the victims were blind-folded and locked up in the house of Onyekachi Okpara, who is the leader of the gang in Omerelu town. 
 
 
They quickly mobilised and stormed the house at about 1:15 a.m. of 07/02/2016, rescued the victims and arrested Kingsley Bassey ‘m’ 23 years, who was guarding the victims. A big locally made revolver pistol with four live cartridges were recovered from him. 
 
Interrogation of Kingsley Bassey led to the subsequent arrest of his six other accomplices namely Nduzi Igoni ‘m’ 25 years, Ogechi Onyeso ‘m’ 24 years, Godbless John ‘m’ 24 years, Saturday Isiah ‘m’ 22 years, Gabriel Dimgba ‘m’ 26 years and Onyekachi Okpara ‘m’ 25 years 
The rescued victims while describing their ordeal in captivity as a horrible moment they could not wish even their enemy to experience, expressed their appreciation to the police for fearlessly and timely coming to their rescue. They further urged for continued cooperation of members of the public to the police especially in terms of volunteering timely and reliable information to the police.</div>

For over five years, he has remained the prime target of the Police. But the more they hunthim, the more elusive he becomes or so it seems. Welcome to the world of Evans, ostensibly Nigeria’s most wanted kidnapper who raked in over N2 billion from payment of ransom for his wealthy victims last year alone. His list of victims is endless. 
One of them is Sir James Uzochukwu Uduji, the Chairman of Comet Star Manufacturing Company, who spent six weeks in captivity before met the gang’s ransom demand. 
Udoji was abducted by unknown gunmen in front of his residence at 7th Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos on September 7, 2015. He was released after six weeks in captivity. His abductors were said to have laid ambush for him at 72nd Junction along 7th Avenue at a bad portion of the road, close to his residence. The hoodlums shot the driver and drove off with Uduji to an unknown destination. 
 
Though he vehemently refused to mention the amount that was paid to his captors, he however, maintained that “their demands were met.” He gave this piece of advice to anybody who falls victim of kidnapping to cooperate with their abductors instead of risking their precious lives which cannot be bought with money. 
Uduji’s abduction went viral when the amount requested as ransom became knowledge of the media. His abductors had requested for $1million US dollars which naira value was put at N220 million as at the time he was being held. 
 
Findings revealed that the police authority is aware of the brain behind the repeated, well co-ordinated kidnapping cases in Festac and Amuwo Odofin that became common in 2015. 
 
 
His name is Evans, one of the richest men in Nigeria but at the moment, the most wanted kidnapper in the country. His criminal outreach and operational methods have so far dwarfed security agencies. In the police circle, as soon as news of high profile kidnap in Lagos is reported, they would simply scream “Evans, Oh Evans.” 
 
An indigene of Anambra State, Evans as he is known by his associates became more involved in criminality, shortly after he was released from prison in 2011. 
Some of his colleagues who were arrested by the Police, recalled the moments they shared with him while he was in Anambra prison. According to them, he was always exchanging notes with other inmates on how they were arrested while he plotted his return. 
He made contacts and as soon as he was granted bail, Evans jumped bail and joined a gang in Anambra. He grew in ranks, and made a lot of money until he was able to form his own gang. He widened his reach between Lagos and Anambra States and at the end of each operation, travel to Ghana till the Police stops searching for him. 
 
Severally, he had relocated to Ghana when Anambra, his home state became too hot for him to operate. Government and the Police in Anambra State were said to have launched a manhunt for him and one of his colleagues, known as Hutch-man, when their activities became too unbearable. Their buildings were destroyed and their relatives were ostracised in the society. 
 
While in Ghana, Evans and Hutch-man formed a new gang in Lagos with three others. Their modus operandi was to sneek into the country quietly, carry out some kidnappings and disappear into thin air. No one noticed his activities until in 2013 after a prominent transporter, Chief Vincent Obianodo, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of The Young Shall Grow Motors narrowly escaped death when his convoy was attacked by some gunmen in Festac Town. The police arrested some suspects who revealed the motive behind the attack. 
 
 At the moment, no one knows Evans’ whereabouts because he has plenty of cash and can easily move in and out of the country. He is so smart that none of his gang members that were arrested has information about him except that his name is Evans and they refer to him as ‘my lord’ while they are not allowed to know much about him. 
 
 
One of Evans gang members who knew little about him was Chukwuma Kingsley, 34, a native of Isele-Ukwu in Delta State. Kingsley was arrested in connection with the kidnap of two oil moguls in Lagos state. 
 
During his confession at the police station, Kingsley claimed that he knew Evans as a dangerous criminal. 
 
 “We once lived in the same building many years ago and he was a notorious drug baron. At a time, we forced our landlord to evict him from our building because we were scared he could get us into trouble. There was a time he told me that he was going to leave the country to avoid being arrested by the police. But few months later, I learnt he was arrested for truck diversion and taken to prison. 
‘’I was still doing my taxi job and making little money from it. Suddenly, I received a call from Evans. I was surprised he had my phone number and he asked if I had a car, I told him I didn’t and he asked if I could get someone I trusted who could do a job for him, I said yes. My friend Ike was in the country then and he was driving a Toyota Sienna space bus. I took him to Evans and we met at Festac Town. 
“He told us to trail a car for him and he would pay us N3 million. We agreed and he said we should wait for his call. Two weeks later, he called and said we should drive down to Trade Fair Complex, wait under the bridge and look out for a car. He gave us the registration number and colour of the car. He also gave our numbers to somebody who would call and tell us when our target would leave his shop. 
 
“We parted ways with him, because after the deal, he collected N15million and only gave us N3million. Ike got angry because that wasn’t the agreement. He told me that Evans collected N15million as ransom. He is a graduate and very smart,” Kingsley revealed. 
 
ENDLESS LIST OF VICTIMS 
 
Saturday Sun investigation revealed that Evans and his gang still have in their custody, three prominent Nigerians abducted from Amuwo Odofin and Festac area. 
Elias Unachukwu was kidnapped in November 2015. Although the family had paid $1million, he is yet to be released as his abductors are insisting on another $1million claiming that family members were rude to them during negotiation. 
 
The second person, Ojukwu Cosmas, 45, who sells Toyota parts at Aspanda trade fair market, Ojo area, was abducted on January 21, 2016 at Festac Town. 
The latest was Fidel Umeh, an auto spare parts dealer at Aspanda market who was kidnapped January 28, 2016 at Amuwo Odofin and his family is still negotiating with his abductors. 
 
While the three are still in their abductors den, Evans and his group have successfully ripped off several families in Festac town including James Udoji, a successful industrialist who reportedly parted with $1million to regain his freedom. Shortly after he was released in September, 2015, Chief Raymond Okoye was picked up and was said to have paid $1million to his captors after spending two months with them. Another victim was Uche Okoroafor, a trader at Alaba market who also parted with $1million to regain his freedom after spending three months in captivity. 
 
One of the friends of Okorofar who spoke with Saturday Sun at his residence lamented that he had to relocate from Festac to Lekki. 
 
 
 
“This is no longer a joke. The police are no longer interested in what happens in Festac Town or Amuwo Odofin. It is now reserved for the average citizen and criminals. Nobody knows who will be the next target. For now, Lekki or Ikeja is safe because that crook and his group know that houses in Lekki and Ikeja are well protected. They will not risk showing their faces here and most importantly, this is the area where important people live and I know that if such a gang dares this area, the police will do everything to arrest them. 
“Can’t you remember that Godogodo was arrested because he attacked them? In 2015 alone, not less than 20 prominent men were kidnapped in Festac Town. Properties are very cheap in Festac now because no rich man wants to buy property there again”, he said. 
Another resident who owns a four star hotel in Festac said that he had since relocated out of the country. 
 
“Three of my regular customers were picked up in front of my hotel while they were leaving. One of them spent two months in their net and had to auction his properties just to raise $1million ransom. It means that their informant normally visits the hotel. I am not safe there, so I run my business from the US”, he said. 
A police source disclosed that “in 2015 alone, it is estimated that Evans and his gang made nothing less than N2 billion from ransom payments. That is why he has so much money to work with.” 
 
 On Evans’ nefarious activities, it was gathered that as far back as 2014, the Lagos command had been on his trail after members of his gang were arrested. He was said to have fled to South Africa with his wife and children.He resurfaced again in March 2015 and this time around, concentrated his effort on Festac Town which has as its landlords, most successful businessmen from the eastern part of Nigeria. Gradually, rich men were silently picked up and Festac town gradually degenerated into an easy route for Evans and his gang. 
 
Saturday Sun learnt that the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni had since called for help to curb the activities of Evans and his notorious gang. As a result, the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has deployed well-trained detectives to help find Evans and his formidable gang</div>

A pastor, Ayo Raphael was abducted by unknown gunmen during a Sunday service at Resurrection parish of the RCCG in Kabba junction in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital. 
 
The Kidnappers who numbered about 10 stormed the church auditorium at about 9am on Sunday and ordered the whole congregation to lie face down. 
 
"The pastor was dragged out of the church into the bush while the abductors shot sporadically into the air to facilitate their escape," an eyewitness said. 
 
No live was lost during the operation but many members of the congregation sustained various injuries scampering for their lives when they were shooting sporadically in the air. 
 
Meanwhile, the kidnappers has contacted the church, demanding a N50 million ransom for his release</div>
