Fr. Paul Offu, the parish priest of St James Catholic Church, Ugboka, in Nkanu East LGA on the 1st of August and the Kidnap of the traditional ruler of Obum-Agbogwugwu, His Royal Highness, Igwe Sunday Orji and his wife, along Agbogwugwu-Ihe junction on the 4th of August, 2019.</div><div><br></div><div>The suspects, Ibrahim Adamu, 25 years from Taraba State and Idris Tobe 28 years (and three others still at large) were arrested by the command after the release of the traditional ruler and his wife.</div><div><br></div><div>Speaking to Journalist101, one of the suspects, Ibrahim Adamu said, he came to Enugu to learn the skill of cow rearing and from there, he joined the criminal gang. He confessed to be part of the gang responsible for the kidnap of the traditional ruler and his wife. He also confessed that one of his gang members arrested with him, Idris supplies them with food items.</div><div><br></div><div>Similarly, the police paraded the gang responsible for the murder of Rev. Fr. Clement Rapuluchukwu, the parish priest of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Obunofia Ndiuno in Ezeagu LGA on the 14th of March, 2019.</div><div><br></div><div>The suspects confessed to killing the cleric after pursuing him into a building he ran into for cover.</div><div><br></div><div>Before killing the Priest, they  took him to the ATM, withdrew cash from his account and bought malt for him to drink before giving up the ghost as a result of the gunshots on his leg.</div><div><br></div><div>The Suspected Killers of Fr. Clement Rapuluchukwu</div><div>The suspects, Sunday Chibuko, 32 years, from Ezeagu LGA, Benjamin Osondu,28 years, from Udenu LGA and Wasiu Ajomale from Ogun State were arrested at Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states respectively. The 4th suspect, kelechi, from Oji-River is still at large.</div>

The Association of Beauty Pageant and Fashion Exhibition Organization of Nigeria, ABPFEON, has called for an investigation into the controversial exposure of former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke’s sex tape.<br/>

It will be recalled that the Police had debunked reports that it arrested a group of men allegedly behind the leaked lesbian sex video of former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke.<br/>

The reports had made the rounds on Thursday that the 7-man gang was apprehended in Enugu.<br/>
<br/>

However, DailyPost reported that the Enugu State Police spokesperson, Ebere Armaraizu, had debunked the claim, saying, “I’m not aware of this. No, no, no! No arrest of such was made in Enugu.<br/>
<br/>
“I’m in the Command and if anything like that happened, I should know and make it available,” he said.<br/>
<br/>
Following the police’s comment, the ABPFEON made its stand known, insisting that the ex-beauty queen must be made to face the law.<br/>
<br/>
In a statement signed by the Secretary General, Alex Nwankw‎o, the association said, “If Nigeria Police were really interested in this case; the actual culprit who is Chidinma Okeke should be looked for.<br/>

“There is no ignorance in law. Besides it is a federal case which attracts 14 years in imprisonment.<br/>
<br/>
“We believe if there ‎is a petition against Chidinma Okeke on this banned federal offence of Lesbianism on the table of Nigeria police, they would have commenced hunting for her arrest.<br/>
<br/>
“Getting Chidinma is far easier than getting her blackmailers because in one of her releases or purported statements behind camera, she sighted that the blackmailers had been extorting money from her; that means she is either known to them or she knows who she has been sending money to.<br/>

“A scandal or story that has gained world attention like this, and topping Nigeria Google presence as at 3 days ago even more than Nigeria’s economic recession, should not be politicized.<br/>
<br/>
“To save us this headache, Chidinma Okeke can come out and identify the boys and also explain to us the chain connection, and names mentioned including government personalities in stories attributed to her.”<br/>
<br/>
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Sam Okaula had dismissed the report, saying the command was not aware of any sex scandal involving the former beauty queen.</div>

The group said the governors and the politicians in the zones used the lives of their subjects to play politics and refused to act even when they got the information of the attack on time.<br/>

In a statement by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Mr. Emma Powerful said, “if not so, why would they not summon an emergency meeting to deliberate the impending dangers? They didn’t do that because they were used by their counterparts in the north against their people.<br/>

“Now, the Hausa/Fulani Boko Haram terrorist group are killing, raping our women and girls, destroying our farmland and kidnapping our people with impunity on daily basis while disguising as Fulani herdsmen and cattle rearers, nobody is saying anything because we are Biafrans. The DSS will never come up with their concocted intelligence report again. So, let the world hear it now.<br/>

“We are totally disappointed in the governors and politicians of this land for not knowing the meaning of chief security officer of the state and their limit. An acclaimed “Practicing Minister of the Gospel”, former banker and trade Unionist, Deacon Ogbodo, now PDP chairmanship aspirant for Enugu State, in the forthcoming party congresses fielded questions in the state capital on a wide range of issues concerning PDP, and state of the nation.<br/>
<br/>
<b>Excerpts:</b><br/>
What is your take on the on-going efforts by PDP major stakeholders, notably governors and ex-Ministers, to reposition the party especially with the installation of a new national chairman?<br/>
Those efforts are in the right direction and are indeed welcome. We need to reposition our party, the biggest political party in Africa, and repackage it. And I think on those scores, everybody is on the same page. A party as big as the PDP, after the misfortune of the last general election, would always take stock, re-appraise and re-strategize to put itself back in a position in which it would be able to play the role of a shadow government and ultimately regain power at the earliest opportunity.<br/>
In your opinion, is Alhaji Modu Sheriff the man to do the job for PDP?<br/>
Alhaji Sheriff, as former governor, has the stature to do the job, if he has conviction. So many people would normally be qualified for the job at once, but only one person would get it at any point in time. The person who gets it should be supported to succeed. All of us, as party men and women, desire electoral success and we should all support whoever gets it to take us there. There is hardly anybody that would emerge as national chairman, whether interim or substantive that will have 100 per cent support from all segments and regions of the country. What I personally consider especially necessary is for the support enjoyed by a leader to be substantial and widespread.<br/>
Major organs of the party, including the NEC and national caucus have all met recently and subsequently released guidelines for impending party congresses; are you comfortable?<br/>
Yes I am. We have been expecting the guidelines. It marks the beginning of the restoration process which we have prayed for. Our desire is that the whole process of rebuilding the party structure down the line will be transparent and a true reflection of the wishes of party men and women. May God help us.<br/>
In your assessment, what do you think went wrong for PDP in the last general election?<br/>
It must have been a combination of factors but it would be too simplistic to begin to speculate on probable reasons without a proper fact-finding. A body, I think has been set up to do a post-mortem and at the right time; we shall be guided by that report.<br/>

So many people have blamed lack of internal democracy which allegedly brought about defections, etc.<br/>
That is neither here nor there; even some people who lost nominations fair and square, and those who couldn’t realize their personal aspirations due to entrenched equitable policies such as zoning, blamed a so-called lack of internal democracy. There would always be contests in any democracy; it can be intra or inter party. The difference, however, is the spirit with which you compete. If you are a fair competitor, fine, but there would always be the do-or-die specie. So, to put your question in perspective, the presence or absence of internal democracy at any given point in time is relative. And if indeed there was lack of it, it might just have been one factor out of many.<br/>

Your aspiration to be State Chairman of PDP, how possible is it; does the party’s zoning arrangement favour you?<br/>
<br/>
Since the beginning of this dispensation, PDP has entrenched and practiced the principle of zoning more than any other party in this country and this is not about to change as far as I know. I am from Enugu East Senatorial District whose turn it is to produce the next state chairman of the party. It is also instructive to point out that I am also from the Enugu South Local Government Area whose turn it is also to produce the state chairman for two reasons. One of the reasons is that of equity and fair play, while the other is with regards to the spread of major political offices so far.<br/>

There has been a gale of defections from the PDP to APC. What does it portend for PDP?<br/>
You must appreciate that defections have also been happening both ways; some people have moved from APC to PDP, as you may know. But essentially, the right to freedom of association is well protected under our laws, both locally and internationally. People are looking for convenient platforms, suitable for their own aspiration. But remember that PDP and APC are not the only political parties in Nigeria; they might be the two most dominant ones. I believe that some people who left can still be persuaded to return if the circumstances that made them leave in the first place are satisfactorily addressed. In our own case in Enugu, if I am privileged to lead the party as Chairman, it shall be my own lot, my challenge, to enter into dialogue with some of our erstwhile leaders/stakeholders who had left to see the possibility of their coming back to the party they contributed to build. You don’t build a beautiful house and, thereafter, abandon it for somebody else to occupy while you proceed to rent another apartment for yourself elsewhere; PDP is where they belong. We would always be happy and proud to have them back in the fold.<br/>
PDP has had its electoral victories in Abia, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, upheld by the Supreme Court, while it was also able to grind out a hard-earned victory in Bayelsa State…<br/>
Exactly, those are obvious good omen. I have strong faith that PDP shall be great again. We shall rebuild nationally from ashes of the last electoral defeat at the centre. In our own case in Enugu, we have never had doubts about where we want to go. And the other core PDP States remaining intact would obviously help in the restoration of the party at the national level. I also use this opportunity to place on record, my faith in the nation’s judiciary. Indeed, it remains the last hope of the common man.</div>

An eyewitness who participated in the search, but declined to be named, reiterated to a source on  Wednesday  that in addition to the three bodies recovered from the foundation of the building, skeletons, as well as female bags were recovered from the site.<br/>

“We even saw some female bags at that scene, which suggests that some women must have also fallen victims,” he disclosed.<br/>
<br/>
Meanwhile, Tricycle Riders’ Association, popularly knows as ‘keke riders’, identified three of the victims in the suspected ritual killing as their members.<br/>
<br/>
Chairman of the union, Ikah Benjamin Ejimofor, who led executive members of the association on a condolence visit to the Enugu Central Mosque at Asata Enugu, described the gruesome murder of the keke riders as “most wicked and despicable.”<br/>

He gave names of the victims as Babangida Sale, Ashahabu Dauda and Ismahil Abdulahi.<br/>
<br/>
On Monday, three dead bodies were exhumed from the foundation of a building project, located along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.<br/>
<br/>
Ejiofor, who fought back tears as he spoke, described the killing as most barbaric and against the principles of life.<br/>
<br/>
“Our members render important service to the society and it is so bad that the same people we serve should turn back to treat us this way.<br/>
<br/>
“We are grieved so much over this colossal loss and, that is why we are here to commiserate with the Hausa community in Enugu. We are, indeed, in this tragedy together. We are so much pained.”<br/>
<br/>
Giving insight into the incident, he said the keke riders left their different units on Saturday but never returned, adding that, “a search party was later organised and that is the result of what we saw on Monday.<br/>
<br/>
“At this moment, our plea to security agents is that this evil should not go unpunished; no stone should be left untouched in a bid to bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book.<br/>
<br/>
“We cannot categorically say whether they were killed for ritual or not, because, even their tricycles have not been found; so, we are leaving that aspect for security agents to unravel. ”<br/>
<br/>
He advised keke riders to, henceforth, stop picking people to drop them in isolated areas.<br/>
<br/>
Also speaking, one of the leaders of the Hausa community in the state, A. A. Sambo, described the death of their brothers as most shocking.<br/>
<br/>
“We lack words with which to describe this situation; it is so sad that vibrant young men left home in the morning in search of their daily bread but never returned alive. It is so sad that they were hacked to death in such manner.”</div>
