Do iPhone batteries really last that long as claimed by Apple? No, says a UK-based consumer advocacy group. The group, that goes by the name ‘Which?’ has <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2019/05/05/apple-iphone-xs-max-xr-upgrade-battery-problem-cost-iphone-x-8-plus/#11cb1e535620" target="_blank">Published </a> the results of the tests it conducted on 50 different models of mobile phones of different companies, like Samsung, Nokia, HTC and Sony besides Apple. The report published by ‘Which?’ and shared with Apple says while most other brands fared well in their tests, except, HTC, the talk-time results for iPhones were much below those claimed by Apple. HTC’s figures were down by around 5% while the other brands phones exceeded the official claims by up to 21% even. The nine iPhone models that were testes by ‘Which?’ the talk-time were less by 18% to 51%. If you take the example of iPhone XR, Apple says its battery lasts up to 25 hours when fully charged. The tests conducted by the UK agency showed it lasted only 16 hours+.   Apple, on its part, has questioned the method used by the agency to test the talk-time. The company says it shares its testing process in public. Interestingly, ‘Which?’ too has shared its process details. But the jury is still out on this one. There has to be a uniform testing environment close to the real one in the hands of the users of the phones. The concept of talk-time for using the phone for just voice calls is one thing; but the phones could be put to different uses like messaging or watching videos or playing games that have high level of graphics. Apple may have to still take a serious note of this report and work on the battery life on its phones. It's no more news that Samsung is currently going through a tough time with their Galaxy Note 7 as there have been many reported cases of the smartphone exploding and even damaging properties in the process. This even made the company stop production and sales of the smartphone. But it now seems like this disaster is now affecting iPhone also. 
 
An Apple iPhone 7 has recently exploded while injuring the owner in the process. According to the owner who refused to reveal his identity, the incident happened while he was trying to record a video with the phone.

According to report, the impact of the explosion was so severe that the iPhone 7 blew up into two pieces with battery and other elements clearly visible while shattered hurling glass flying across his face and causing one of his fingers on his right hand to swell.

After the incident, the man reported the case to Apple sale's support where he was told that they had no authority to look or handle such matter. But later, the complaint was forwarded to Apple headquarters. However, where the man actually purchased his iPhone 7 is still unknown , as the man still didn’t state from where he bought his phone.

 Ontario-based BlackBerry said it had reached a deal to outsource production of its phones to an Indonesian partner, and would instead concentrate on software and services. 
 Handsets with the BlackBerry name will be produced under license by PT Tiphone Mobile Indonesia Tbk, a statement by the firms said. 
 BlackBerry, which a decade ago was among the world’s largest smartphone makers, has seen its global market share slip to less than one percent as Apple and Android devices have dominated. 
 As the market shifted, BlackBerry has sought to refocus on software, including security applications, and the latest announcement takes the company out of the handset market entirely. 
 “We are reaching an inflection point with our strategy. Our financial foundation is strong, and our pivot to software is taking hold,” said chief executive John Chen, pointing to a doubling of software revenue in the last fiscal year. 
 “The company plans to end all internal hardware development and will outsource that function to partners. This allows us to reduce capital requirements and enhance return on invested capital.” 
 The Waterloo, Ontario-based company has made several efforts in recent years to find new customer niches as its smartphone handset sales continued to stagnate in the face of competition. 
 It had hoped its first Android-operating smartphone launched last year would help restore the company to its former glory. 
 But sales were lackluster. 
 Earlier this year, BlackBerry announced it was killing off its Classic smartphone with a physical keyboard — once the workhorse of the smartphone market — as part of a modernization of its lineup. 
 But the company has continued to bleed red, posting on Wednesday a US$372 million loss in its second quarter ending August 31. 
 Revenues also fell to US$334 million, from US$490 million during the same period last year. The company did not report details on its smartphone shipments. 
 – Rebooting BlackBerry – 
 Some analysts praised the decision to get out of smartphone sales, at a time when the worldwide smartphone market has turned relatively flat. 
 “The devices business has been a distraction for both BlackBerry and investors for a number of years now,” International Data Corporation analyst John Jackson told AFP. 
 The end is “good news,” he said, noting an uptick in BlackBerry’s stock price in morning trading. 
 Shares rose more than four percent to US$8.22 in New York at 11:00 am local time (1500 GMT). This price, however, remains far below a five-year high set in October 2011 of US$23.97. 
 Originally known as Research in Motion, the company introduced its first internet-connected devices in the early 2000s, and earned a dedicated following of “CrackBerry” addicts. 
 But its luster faded with the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 and the large number of low-costs Android handsets that followed. 
 By moving out of hardware, BlackBerry can focus on its various business services such as messaging, cybersecurity and tracking connected devices. 
 Jackson said the move “should help investors, BlackBerry customers, and the company itself focus squarely on the software and services business which is fiercely competitive in its own right, but also the business that BlackBerry has been in all along.” 
 However analyst Michael Walkley at Canaccord Genuity said the new strategy has risks as well. 
 “We believe the lowered focus on hardware could have an adverse impact on its installed base of loyal BlackBerry hardware customers, potentially switching to new software and security solutions on competing smartphones over time,” he said in a research note.

 The Mini Power portable chargers could be described as a paper battery technology put into small USB flash drives. If you have ever bought a USB Bluetooth stick you know they are literally as small as a thumbnail. The Mini Power chargers are as small and would come in sizes of 2 hours, 4 hours and 6 hours worth of battery power. That’s what I call portable smartphone battery chargers! 
 The usefulness of these pocket-sized chargers is virtually unprecedented. Depending on the time you expect to be out, you simply pick the one that will serve you the best without it having to be lugged around in a backpack. Just put it in your pocket and be on your merry way. Opera Software accused UCWeb of shady practices. Malicious ads have been showing on Opera Mini and Opera for Android linking to UC Browser download page. This was reported by Opera Mini users and this ad in particular sometimes hijack the browser, filling up the screen with an alert that your browser is unsafe. 
 
The ad may even feature a call-to-action that leads to UC Browser Play Store page.

If this particular ad was actually sponsored by UCWeb, then it’s rather unethical. This annoying ad will even make your phone vibrate and make loud noises. According to Opera Software:

We will not just stand by and let people smear our products and scare our users. We will continue talking to Google about this situation, and we are calling on UC Browser for its help in stopping these malicious ads. 
 
 
This kind of unethical advert will only damage the brand UCWeb has built over the years. Tricking users into downloading UC Browser through malicious ads isn’t the way to go. Since UCWeb is yet to respond, the possibility that this advert might be run by a third party can’t be ignored.

Perhaps most striking is where they&#039;ll be: underwater and underground. 
 
One hundred years in the future, we’ll barely have to leave our homes, if the SmartThings Future Living Report is correct. 
 
Commissioned by Samsung, the report was authored by space scientist Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock, University of Westminster architects and lecturers Arthur Mamou-Mani and Toby Burgess, and urban planner and designer Linda Aitken and Els Leclercq. The writers based their predictions on current technology, as well as projections about the world’s population growth and energy needs. 
 
Thanks to an expanding population, Earth-dwellers will need to find new and creative places to live. By 2116, the report proposes that humans will have underwater cities: “With advances in the efficiency of solar cells, it is likely that this free energy source will be used to create sub-aquatic communities, breathing the oxygen they create and fueling their electrical needs through the act of hydrogen creation below the waves.” Not everyone with a view of the sea will be below the waves, though. Floating cities will move all over the world to avoid harsh climates. Future generations will also live in earth-scrapers — essentially skyscrapers in reverse, burrowing deep into the ground rather than towering in the clouds. 
 
While the locations of future homes may be totally new, the interiors will be futuristic takes on what we’re already used to. 
 
Those living underground might not get as much sunlight, but their walls will still offer breathtaking views thanks to virtual reality or LED surfaces and projectors “with home interiors reading and then adapting to the inhabitants’ mood.” 
 
The walls themselves will be more than stationary surfaces showing you thunderstorms when you’re angry and rolling meadows when you’re stressed. “These smart walls will be able to change their own shape in 3D by using small responsive actuators pushing and pulling a flexible skin, creating temporary seats or shelves,” the authors of the report write. 
 
The house in general will respond to your needs, suggesting different wall configurations based on what’s happening (such as if you have guests in town and need a temporary bedroom). And each home will have its own 3D printer to make small objects on demand. 
 
With an increased strain on the earth’s resources, homes will become more sustainable. People will grow their own food with hydroponics and produce their own gas and water through a digestion tank using anaerobic digestion. All houses will be “off the grid,” storing energy in lithium-ion batteries generated by sun, wind, or other means. 
 
Thanks to drone deliveries, 3D-printed and home-grown food, holograms that project you at an office, and in-home body-scanning capsules that check you for disease, it sounds like the report predicts people will increasingly become homebodies. 
 
That might be a necessity if we venture into space. “Homes will increasingly become self-contained, autonomous spaces generating their own oxygen and food; we will effectively all be creating our very own little planet Earths,” says the report.

The A5 and A7 are company's mid-range smartphones with premium design and build quality. Both phones have a 1080p Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 615, 16GB storage, 13 megapixel camera at the back, 5 megapixel camera on the front, and Android Lollipop, all in a metal and glass body. Only differences are the bigger 5.5-inch display on the A7 compared to 5.2-inch on the A5, 3GB RAM vs. 2GB, and larger 3300mAh battery vs. 2900mAh. 
 
The Galaxy A5 is priced at INR 29,400 ($433) and the Galaxy A7 at INR 33,400 ($492). They will be available starting February 15, 2016.</div>
