Supt. Vehicular movements have been diverted into a nearby street to access Ijegun bus stop.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">“The information I gathered is that the policemen from Area M fired gunshots while chasing suspected criminal and the bullet killed a woman. Youths in the area killed him and injured his colleagues. One of them managed to crawl to the Oba’s palace,” said a resident.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Contacted, police spokesman Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP) confirmed the death of the ASP, adding that efforts were on to restore peace in the area.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">“I cannot tell you what really happened at the moment but it is true that we lost an ASP and two order ranks were injured. <br/>
The bill prescribes death sentence for kidnappers whose victims died in their custody. Kidnappers whose victims did not die in their custody will get life jail.<br/>
The bill states:<br/>
 “Any person, who kidnaps, abducts, detains, captures or takes another person by any means or tricks with intent to demand ransom or do anything against his/her will, commits an offence, and liable on conviction to death sentence”.<br/>
The bill also prescribed 25 years imprisonment for whoever threatens to kidnap another person through phone call, e-mail, text message or any other means of communication.<br/>
<br/>
Also, any person, who knowingly or wilfully allows or permits his premises, building or a place to which he has control of to be used for the purposes of keeping a person kidnapped, is guilty of an offence under the law and liable to 14 years imprisonment without an option of fine.<br/>

Although the incident occurred on Christmas Day at 36, Fadeyi Street, Olowora, the suspect was reportedly arrested on Tuesday following the intervention of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence team in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.<br/>

It was gathered that Adeleke explained to him that she didn’t have naira notes on her and told him to be patient.He was said to have walked out on the woman in anger only to return with a knife and stabbed her in the chest.,<br/>

“The cleaner said the woman had not paid him his December salary. It was just a month’s salary and the month has not even ended. He collects N27,000 per month.<br/>
“He used a knife to stab the woman in the chest. The woman shouted, which alerted the driver and security guard. He wanted to escape when policemen arrived at the house and arrested him,” the source said..<br/>
Dressed in black, the sister of the deceased, who did not give her name, said the family was in grief and would not talk to any journalist.<br/>
“I appreciate your coming. The incident is shocking. The family is sad and grieving and needs privacy at this time. We want to be accorded that respect please. Thank you,” she said.<br/>
PUNCH Metro observed that Adelekes’ surroundings were flooded with exotic vehicles of those who had come to sympathise with the family.<br/>

A resident, who asked not to be named, said Ludguo had requested N15,000 from his December salary and became angry because the request was not granted.<br/>

“He asked her to give him N15,000 from his December salary and she said she just came back from the US and did not have naira notes. She told him to be patient. He insisted that he needed the money to travel and Temidayo (Adeleke) told him to let her be.<br/>
“A few minutes later, he sneaked to where the woman was relaxing and stabbed her in the chest.”<br/>

The residence’s security guard, who identified himself simply as Abbah, said Adeleke employed the suspect about two months ago, adding that she was generous to him.<br/>

He said, “The boy is wicked and I have always warned him. He takes drugs. When policemen checked his clothes, they found tremor there. Madam bought him a new phone last month and she usually gave him money apart from his salary. She brought him home through her church member last month and they lived in her flat.<br/>
“It was the driver who lives in the adjoining flat that heard madam scream. By the time he got there, she was gasping with blood gushing out of her chest. The driver alerted me immediately to stop Joel at the gate and he was later arrested.”</div>

The incident happened at Gabriel Bell close, Bamishile Estate in Idimu where the church was located.<br/>
<br/>
Onu was arrested with her daughter, Alice who signed the agreement and handed over the Jeep to Prophet Orimisan after she obtained a token sum of N500,000 in exchange for the vehicle.<br/>
<br/>
The Delta State-born Mary who was a member of the church went to the prophet and told him that he wanted to appreciate him for his assistance and prayer to her and her family which had benefited them.<br/>
<br/>
She told him that she wanted to sow a seed offering with the Infiniti model QX56 which the market value is over N2 million.<br/>
<br/>
She asked him that he should pay only N500,000 as a token and which an excited Orimisan agreed and paid the money into her account.<br/>
<br/>
P.M.Express gathered that she drove the SUV to the church with the owner, who is a car dealer and introduced him as his driver.<br/>
<br/>
When they went inside the church to discuss, the owner of the SUV did not knew what was going on and after Orimisan paid the money, she left both of them inside the church premised and bolted away.<br/>
<br/>
When the prophet came out and saw the car dealer, he asked him to leave and informed him he had settled with Mary.<br/>
<br/>
It was then the prophet realized that Mary have scammed him as the owner explained what transpired between him and Mary before the vehicle was brought to the church.<br/>
<br/>
The matter was reported to the police who trailed Mary and her daughter, Alice for several weeks and later arrested them in their hide.<br/>
<br/>
At the station, Mary confessed to the crime but claimed she had already spent the money to solve her personal problem.<br/>
<br/>
They were charged before Magistrate’s court sitting in Isolo on Thursday with conspiracy, obtaining under false pretence and stealing under the Criminal Code.<br/>
They pleaded not guilty.<br/>
<br/>
The prosecutor, Mr A.U. Ojei told the court that he was not objecting the bail condition, but the court should use discretion to grant them bail so that they will face trial.<br/>
<br/>
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with one sureties in like sum.<br/>
<br/>
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.<br/>
<br/>
The matter was adjourned till 24 November 2016.</div>

It was gathered that Onyejekwe, to celebrate the winning, bought drinks for his friends and threw a party last Thursday and Friday.<br/>
<br/>
It was learnt that on Friday evening, he was heard arguing with an unidentified person on the phone.<br/>
He allegedly told his friend he was going to see the man, but never returned. His corpse was allegedly discovered the next day on one of the estates.<br/>
<br/>
A resident, who did not want to be identified, said the chairman of the estate called the attention of residents to the corpse on Saturday.<br/>
<br/>
He said, “I was sipping tea around 7am when I heard the chairman blowing a whistle. I thought it was strange, but my wife called my attention to the surging crowd on the estate.<br/>
“I went downstairs and saw the corpse on the road. Like everybody, I was alarmed. We could not tell how the corpse got there or who he was. He had multiple stab injuries in the head. We all resolved that the case should be reported at the FESTAC Police Station.”<br/>
<br/>
It was learnt that some of the victim’s friends later identified him.<br/>
<br/>
The corpse was said to have been deposited in a morgue, while the police arrested and detained the chairman of the estate and his secretary; they were later released.<br/>
<br/>
A source told PUNCH Metro that the victim won a lottery few days to his death.<br/>
<br/>
He said, “The man won a lot of money in a lottery and from last Thursday to Friday, he was asking his friends to drink at his expense.<br/>
“He was called on the phone that Friday evening and he went to meet a man. I suspect that a gang stabbed him and used an object to hit him in the head. There were bruises on his knees and it appeared they dragged him on the floor as well.<br/>
“When the police were removing his corpse, blood was dripping from his mouth and nostrils. He was murdered in cold blood.”<br/>
<br/>
A friend of the victim, who did not identify himself, said his relative had visited the community.<br/>
<br/>
“I can’t say why he was killed. Nobody knows. He just returned from a visit to the village,” he added.<br/>
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.<br/>
<br/>
She said, “The chairman of one of the estates reported that at about 7am, he woke up and saw the victim lying lifeless with injuries on his head and body. The corpse was deposited at the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Two suspects, Suleiman Ahmed and Ibrahim Yusuf, were arrested and the case transferred to the SCIID for further investigation.”<br/>

The suspect’s modus oparandi, as disclosed by police, include laying ambush for the ladies, who flood the clubs for weekend relaxation, and attacking them while they are entering or leaving the clubs. Thereafter, he would drag them into his car and zoom off to an isolated area, where he would collect their cash and other valuables. <br/>
<br/>
Vanguard gathered that incidents of such had been reported to the police in the aforementioned areas. However, luck ran against the suspect, identified as Lucky Obaseki, after he allegedly intercepted a lady who had gone to one of the clubs in Victoria Island, in the company of her friends. Explaining how he was arrested, the Lagos State Police Command image-maker, Dolapo Badmus, said: <br/>

“Detectives from Maroko Police Division arrested one Lucky Obaseki, who hails from Edo State, while attempting to rob one Igbinosa Evelyn, who went to Bar Club, Victoria Island. “The suspect lured her into his Toyota Camry in Ikoyi, pointed a gun at her, collected her ATM card and pin, and withdrew N70,000. “The suspect was trailed and apprehended by detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Maroko, Isah Abdulmajid. On interrogation, he confessed to the crime, adding that he specialises in robbing young ladies, who go to clubs within Lekki, Victoria Island and Ikoyi to enjoy themselves.”<br/>

According to the Nation, he was arrested shortly after he disembarked from the aircraft on his way from Sao Paulo, Brazil.<br/>
The suspect confidently wore the jacket containing the drugs but through experience and insight, the drugs were discovered by the anti-drug officers. This is the first discovery of cocaine inside the collar of a jacket by the NDLEA.<br/>

Speaking on his arrest, ‎the NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, Ahmadu Garba, said Agwu was arrested during routine check on passengers.<br/>
“Ten wraps of cocaine weighing 110 grammes were found inside the collar of his jacket during screening of passengers on a South Africa Airline flight from Brazil through Johannesburg. The drug which was carefully hidden inside his jacket tested positive for cocaine and investigation is ongoing.”<br/>
When interrogated, the suspect who claims to be a shoe seller in Togo, said in his statement that he went to Brazil in search of greener pastures but resorted to drug trafficking due to frustration. He attended Technical Secondary School in Ohafia, Abia State. <br/>
“I use to sell shoes in Togo until I lost goods worth N3 million. This negatively affected my business and made me to travel to Brazil in a desperate search for greener pastures. After a fruitless search for job in Brazil for four months, I decided to smuggle drugs to get some money to start my shoe business. I thought the drugs will not be detected inside my jacket but I was caught and I am very sad”.<br/>

This girl was said to have transformed from a cat into a human being at dawn today. She was allegedly found as a cat in the store of a house at Ringroad area in Ibadan. <br/>
 It reportedly transformed into a girl before it could be killed. She smelled like an animal and passed heavily smelly animal faeces and urine with equally strong foul odour that could not be said to be of human origin. I'm still unable to eat as result of the choking smell that pervaded the community. It's one of the most scary reportorial assignments for me. Does anyone still believe in earthly mysteries and secrets? This is strange, but could it be true?.<br/>

<br />
The Appeal Court, in a judgment delivered by Justice Y. B. Nimpar, rejected the appeal filed by the convicts and upheld the judgment of the federal court.<br />
<br />
Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos had, on September 30, 2014, handed down the verdict after the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Justice, successfully prosecuted the terrorists before the court.<br />
<br />
The state government had filed charges against four accused persons for conspiracy to commit a felony to wit: acts of terrorism, concealing information about acts of terrorism and being in possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition contrary to various sections of the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act, 2013 and the Firearms Act, Cap F.28 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.<br />
<br />
Out of the four persons charged, three were sentenced to 25 years imprisonment each, while the fourth accused was discharged and acquitted.<br />
<br />
Those convicted and sentenced were Ali Mohammed Modu, Adamu Ali Karumi and Ibrahim Usman Ali.<br />
<br />
Dissatisfied with the verdict, the convicts through their lawyer had approached the Appeal Court in Lagos asking that the verdict be upturned on the grounds that they were charged under inapplicable laws, and that the 25-year-jail term was excessive.<br />
<br />
One of the convicts, Ibrahim Usman Ali, had specifically argued that he was inadvertently convicted and sentenced for a count with which he was not charged.<br />
<br />
While the Court of Appeal agreed that one of the convicts was wrongly convicted under a count with which he was not charged, the court, however, affirmed the judgment of Justice Buba which convicted and sentenced the three terrorists to 25 years imprisonment each.<a href="http://affiliate.mobofree.com/idevaffiliate.php?id=9297_0_1_22" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img alt="" height="90" src="http://affiliate.mobofree.com/media/banners/SELLINGeasy728x90.gif" style="border:0px" width="728" /></a>

The 19-year-old suspect, Samuel Emmanuel, was alleged to have vandalized most of the customers cars right under their nose, without their knowledge. He usually went for the vehicle carriers and his target were usually Highlander SUVs.<br/>
<br/>
How he removed the carriers which are usually fixed on top of the SUV remains a mystery to those who have fallen victims , as the cars were usually parked right in front of the saloon.<br/>
<br/>
Emmanuel is, however, not alone in this crime. Arrested alongside him, was Uchenna Nwosu, who specialized in removing chromes from parked vehicles, particularly Highlander SUV’s and Toyota Corolla cars.<br/>
<br/>
Crime Guard investigation revealed that their likes are spread in high brow areas where residents use Pathfinder SUV’s, Toyota Corolla and other posh cars. The suspects confessed that they sold these parts at the popular Ladipo market in Mushin local government area, at give away prices.<br/>
<br/>
<b>One-man</b> <b>thieving</b> <b>squad</b><br/>
<br/>
When approached, 19-year-old Emmanuel revealed that he left his stylist work for this criminal job out of greed. He said “ I run a one-man squad. I do not have any partner. I was introduced into this business by a friend whom I approached to lend me some money. He took me out on operation once, to watch how he removed chromes from parked SUV’s. We succeeded in stealing from six vehicles . At the end, he gave me N5000, an amount that takes me one or two weeks to make in the saloon. I started with the customer’s cars and graduated to the neighborhood.<br/>
<br/>
<b>How</b> <b>I</b> <b>operate</b><br/>
<br/>
“What I do is, anytime I sight a Highlander SUV, I would wait until it is parked. Thereafter, I would act as if I was pressed and go close to the vehicle. First, I would unscrew the plastic knot before pulling it out. Thereafter, I would take it to a safe place, keep it and come back next day for onward sale at Ladipo.<br/>
<br/>
Most times, vehicle owners would never take note until few days later . By then, they won’t know where it got missing. I decided to leave my stylist work for this business after a while. I never knew I would be caught so soon because I wanted to raise some money to buy equipment to open my own saloon. I only started three months ago. The owner of the vehicle I removed the carrier saw me climbing and raised an alarm . I sold a set of carrier for N10,000 at Ladipo market , “said the Senior Secondary School Certificate holder.<br/>

<b>Second</b> <b>suspect</b> <b>speaks</b><br/>
<br/>
On his part, Uchenna Nwosu (36) said “I specialize in removing chromes from Highlander SUV’s and Corolla cars. This is because they can be easily disposed at Ladipo. I sold to traders and at times, to hustlers. I sold a set of chrome for N4000 . It does not take a big deal to remove it.<br/>
<br/>
And it is not hard to sell since there are no inscriptions on them. Even if you see yours in the market, you will not be able to identify them because there are no marks or identification on them. I started it eight months ago because of hardship. I was a bus conductor until the owner of the bus sold it. I found it difficult to feed my family and was therefore, left with no choice than to take to this shady business, for I couldn’t stand my baby crying for food. I knew it is bad to steal but I beg to be forgiven,”<br/>

The suspects, according to Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni , would be charged to court soon.</div>
