Dear Inspector General of Police, 
 
Your men at Itire Police Station just murdered One Mr Nurudeen Aliyu who resides at 40 Aborisade Lawanson Itire Surulere who was arrested by the police for TWO fighting. 
 
His body has been deposited at Luth by the policemen at Itire Police Station. 
 
The DPO of Itire Police Station should know you can't cover this one up. Last year at this same police station a Police Inspector popularly called pastor killed a secondary school student and young guy around Oduduwa in Surulere. This police man walked free and still with the police echelon as we speak. 
The annoying thing is that I saw this pastor three weeks after the incident. He has been posted to Agege Police Station. 
 
The name of the killer cop is Inspector Smart.

The state Police Commissioner Hilda Harrison, who met with Hausa/Fulani farmers, traditional leaders, village heads and Miyyatti Allah, in Akure said the bloodbath should stop. 
 
Harrison pointed out that the police command would no longer tolerate the activities of trouble makers in the state. 
 
She warned against anybody trying to cause problem, just as she urged the stakeholders to work together and shun violence. 
 
The Police chief said “all of you are aware of the recent problem and challenges facing the state . I am almost a month old in the state, persons have been reportedly killed on farmlands, kidnapped, murdered on the road. There is no need for us to fight one another because we need one another to survive. We need to work together to achieve sustainable peace in our state. We must pursue peace.” 
 
She noted that a “register would be opened with the village heads, community leaders and major stakeholders. For them to ensure that anybody entering their territory must have to sign the register. The person must be known to the community or village heads for security reasons.” 
 
“Herdsmen must be known to the heads of their Communities in the localities where they operate. We must all realize that we are all created by God and as such need to give peace a chance,“ she noted. 
 
Besides, the Commissioner warned that “any community or village head that allows herdsmen after signing register with them to carry out nefarious activities would be held accountable.”</div>

The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Alkali Baba Usman who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists in Asaba on Thursday, said the suspects upon interrogation confessed to the crime, adding that they are responsible for kidnapping many staff of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH) in recent times. 
 
He said: “In process of our investigation, we found that idle youths aid kidnap suspects in executing their evil act, for instance, over 20 staffers of DELSUTH were kidnapped and released in the last one month, and the suspects confessed that idle youths in Oghara assisted them.” 
 
 
The police boss disclosed that the suspects were arrested with the help of various vigilance groups, adding that they would be charged to court when investigations are completed. 
 
“Oghara, Sapele, Ogwashi-Uku, Issele-Uku are flash points where these kidnappers operate, we will bring all of them to book” the Police Commissioner said.</div>

The victims were actually returning from Owerri to Port Harcourt after attending a wedding. 
A patriotic citizen, who from a hiding place witnessed the incident, informed the police that kidnappers whisked away the victims abandoning their vehicle, Lexus jeep RX 300 by the road side. 
 
 
The police after recovering the vehicle got information sequel to robust intelligence that the victims were blind-folded and locked up in the house of Onyekachi Okpara, who is the leader of the gang in Omerelu town. 
 
 
They quickly mobilised and stormed the house at about 1:15 a.m. of 07/02/2016, rescued the victims and arrested Kingsley Bassey ‘m’ 23 years, who was guarding the victims. A big locally made revolver pistol with four live cartridges were recovered from him. 
 
Interrogation of Kingsley Bassey led to the subsequent arrest of his six other accomplices namely Nduzi Igoni ‘m’ 25 years, Ogechi Onyeso ‘m’ 24 years, Godbless John ‘m’ 24 years, Saturday Isiah ‘m’ 22 years, Gabriel Dimgba ‘m’ 26 years and Onyekachi Okpara ‘m’ 25 years 
The rescued victims while describing their ordeal in captivity as a horrible moment they could not wish even their enemy to experience, expressed their appreciation to the police for fearlessly and timely coming to their rescue. They further urged for continued cooperation of members of the public to the police especially in terms of volunteering timely and reliable information to the police.</div>

A peaceful protest by medical practitioners in Imo State, turned deadly after an overzealous and trigger-happy policeman shot a Consultant Family Physician in the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, FMC, Dr. Bende Azudialo. He was allegedly shot in the head by a policeman. The state Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Hyacinth Emele, has given a graphic account of the incident and ordered a three-day warning strike with effect from today (Friday). 
 
 
 “If the policeman that fired the lethal shot is not identified and prosecuted, doctors will commence indefinite industrial action. The security agencies and Imo State Government should note that all hospitals in the state will close shop thereafter until the erring policeman is fished out and punished”, Emele said. Continuing, the Imo NMA boss, who also displayed the blood-stained white overall worn by the wounded doctor, also said that a team of medical health personnel started working on the wounded Consultant Family Physician, as soon as he was rushed to the FMC. 
 
 
 
“The initial report we got from the medical team was that Dr. Azudialo lost about 1.5 litres of blood when he was rushed to the hospital and that was a substantial loss”, Emele said Speaking also, Dr. Darlington Akukwu recalled how the NMA formally wrote the Commissioner of Police, the Directorate of State Security, DSS, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and all other related agencies to inform them about the peaceful protest. 
 
“We processed peacefully until we got to Orlu Road Roundabout. The police barricaded the road and when we tried to explain our mission to them, they started firing teargas canisters. One of them later fired a shot that wounded Dr. Azudialo”, Dr. Akukwu said.
