The spokesperson of the police in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrests to PREMIUM TIMES on Monday, said the suspects connived to dump the remains of the victim in the bush. 
 
He said, the man had visited to spend the night with his lover, identified as Rukayat Bashorun, but died in a mysterious manner. 
 
“The Ogun State police command has arrested three women namely: Rukayat Basorun 37, Omobola Shodimu, and Aanu Owoade, for murder. The suspects were arrested when information got to the police that they secretly dumped a corpse in a bush”, he stated.

The police spokesperson added that the Divisional Police Officer for Ogijo, Tijani Mohammed, who received the information led his officials to the area at Mamugba village, Simawa where the main suspect, Ms. Basorun, was arrested. 
 
“Investigation revealed that the deceased happened to be Rukayat’s lover who came to spend some time with her but died in suspicious circumstances in the house of the suspect. 
 
“Rukayat then connived with her two other accomplices to take the body and dump it in the bush”, he emphasised. 
 
Mr. Oyeyemi said, on interrogation, Ms. Basorun confessed that the deceased was her man friend who went to visit her but suddenly fell sick. 
 
“She stated further that she took him to a private hospital but the money charged by the hospital was too much for her to pay which made her to take him to an undisclosed clinic where she said the man gave up the ghost”, he stated. 
 
“When asked the reason why she decided to dump the corpse in the bush, she could not give any reasonable response”, Mr. Oyeyemi stated. 
 
The police spokesperson said the corpse had been recovered and deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital mortuary in Sagamu for autopsy. 
 
He said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.</div>

Parading her before newsmen at the state police command in Abeokuta yesterday September 4th, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ilyasu, said the young ladies who were found in the church premises have been taken to a hospital for medical examination. 
 
One of the victims said many of the girls were from broken homes and sought a place to stay before they were lured into prostitution by the supposed pastor. 
 
According to her, they sleep with men for N500 and give the prophetess N200 commission. The teenager said many of them have had multiple abortions so as to continue living in the church and that she has had 5 abortions. 
“I lost my father and decided to stay with the prophetess, Idowu Olupinla, who always prophesied and prayed for me. She said that we should allow the boys who are members of the church who came for crusade to sleep with us in the church premises and pay us N500. So I have been staying with the prophetess for about one year and men have been having sex with us in the church premises, and I have done five abortions with the drug that the prophetess gave us. We are almost 10 girls staying in church of the prophetess as hostages until the police came to rescue us.” Denying the claims, the suspect said “I don’t know them. I have never been involved in anything of the sort they said. I never took any money from them. These are mere allegations against me. I am the founder of the church. All I know is that everybody is free to come and pray in my church and bring either the husband or wife along.” 
The police says she would soon be charged to court for human trafficking and child abuse.</div>

According to a statement by the governor, 16 workers were on site when the incident happened and they have all been accounted for. 
 
Efforts to clear the rubbles at the collapsed building site are ongoing and the government claims that there are no casualties. According to a statement released, records from the site engineers indicated that there were 16 workers on site at the time of the incident and they have all been accounted for.

The striking workers in Ogun State have said they are not scared of being arrested and detained by the state government over the ongoing strike. 
 
The Chairman of the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Akeem Ambali, said this on Wednesday during a mega rally held by the workers at the NLC secretariat on Abiola Way, Abeokuta. 
 
Ambali said the workers would march to the state secretariat at Oke Mosan on Monday for another “peaceful mega rally”, adding that they would not be deterred by the presence of law enforcement agents. 
 
He said, “On Monday, all of us will march to Oke Mosan, if he (the governor) likes, let him bring one million police or soldiers. If he arrests us today, we are ready to go to cell, we are not afraid of detention. 
 
“The opening of registers is illegal. The Secretary to the State Government has not called us for dialogue. The government should have the political will to invite us. If they invite us today, we are going to dialogue with them. 
 
“We will not allow what is happening to workers in Osun and Oyo states to happen in Ogun State.” 
 
The state Chairman of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, Abiodun Olakanmi, described the ‘no work, no pay’ threat from the government as a fallacy, arguing that it should be the reverse, ‘no pay, no work.’ 
 
He said it was not as if the workers were asking for salary increase, but were only demanding the unremitted deductions made from their salary. 
 
He said, “We are not asking for any addition to our salary, all we are asking is for the government to pay the unremitted deductions made from our salary.” 
 
Olakanmi said the workers would continue to meet every Monday to review the strike action and develop new strategies. 
 
The state chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Dare Ilekoya, said some teachers could no longer pay their children’s school fees because they were being owed salary deductions. 
 
He said, “How do you expect such teachers to work in their schools?” 
 
The state President, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Akeem Lasisi, also appealed to the state government to pay the workers the deductions made from their salary to enable them to meet their financial obligations. 
 
The state Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council had ordered the workers to proceed on an indefinite strike last Monday because of the failure of the government to honour its promise on January 25, 2016, to pay the deductions.</div>
