What is most shocking is that the teenage girl is a product of an incestous relationship Ugochukwu had with his cousin many years ago.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Ugochukwu's brother, Chukwunyere, who spoke with The Sun, said Ugochukwu had an affair with their cousin, the daughter of their father's brother 16 years ago. The secret affair led to the birth of a set of twin girls. When their affair came to light, the couple insisted they were in love and must get married. This caused a serious fight in their family as everyone insisted it was a taboo in their culture. The lovers continued their affair and had another girl who Ugochukwu has gotten pregnant.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">“The mother of the small girl is our sister, so, when my brother impregnated her some years back; the family said they cannot marry that it was abomination. But she eventually delivered twins; two girls, then we went and did some sacrifices to appease the land. My father was alive then. We did all the traditional rites. We didn’t know that he relocated the lady to Abuja and they continued their incestuous life until she became pregnant again and gave birth to another girl. The twins are 15 while the next one is 13,” Chukwunyere said</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Ugochukwu was made to get married to another lady from the Orlu area of Imo State who had three children for him, two boys and a girl.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">According to Chukwunyere, Ugochukwu recently travelled to Abuja and brought the young girl to come and stay with his family in the village on the pretence that she was on holiday. Little did people know, that he brought her so he can continue having sex with his own daughter.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Ugochukwu's act of violation his own daughter came to light when his wife caught him pants down.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><blockquote style="clear: both;"> “I’m not usually at home. So, what I will tell you is the one I know. One day, I returned from a burial in Akwa Ibom and my brother’s wife called me that she needed to see me. When I got to the house, I didn’t see her, it was my brother, her husband that I met. He told me that she had gone to their church, so when I called her, she asked that I should meet her there. When I got there, she now narrated this abominable story to me. In fact, I was totally devastated and didn’t waste time to rush to the home of our village Chairman and told him what I heard''he said</blockquote><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Chukwunyere said himself and the village Chairman accompanied by some members of his executive committee went to Sure Word International Church, near the popular former Crusader Secondary School, now Community Secondary School, Isingwu, to meet Ugochukwu’s wife where she repeated all that she told him initially.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">When the young girl was asked what happened, she not only confirmed that her father had abused her sexually but even revealed that it was not his first time of raping her. According to the victim, her father started ‘touching and using’ her in Abuja when she was 10 years old. She disclosed that she had reported the violation to her mother who confronted her father when it started; the issue caused serious friction between them before they later settled it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><blockquote style="clear: both;">“She said that when he started doing it; she called her mother and said ‘I think you said this man is my father; look at what he’s doing to me’. Her mother had quarrel with the father then, but after a while, they settled. Since then, he had been abusing her sexually. So, some months back, he went and brought her to the village, according to him, for holiday. That was when it was discovered that he was sleeping with the small girl,” Chukwunyere said.</blockquote><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Her mother was then informed of the incident and she travelled down to Umuahia from her Abuja base, took the girl to a laboratory where result of pregnancy test conducted was positive.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Ugochukwu who fled the village immediately his evil act came to light, has been barnished for 10 years from the community.</div></div></div>

She was raped by her biological father who threatened that she would die if she opened up to anyone about the matter. But she braved the odds to cry out and paid the ultimate price as she died with her five-month-old pregnancy.</div><div><br></div><div>Although her 42-year-old errant father, Jacob Alonge, a farmer and native doctor, has been committed to prison, she did not live to see the man that caused her pains walk into jail.</div><div><br></div><div>In the words of D. Adamaigbo, the presiding Magistrate at Edo Family Court, “her father threatened her that if she revealed to the public she would die. She actually revealed it and she died.”</div><div><br></div><div>The late Gift was raped by her father in 2017, and he threatened her by administering an oath of silence on her. He continued to rape her until she turned 15 and got her pregnant. The bizarre incident occurred at Ososo village in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.</div><div><br></div><div>The first time he raped Gift, according to the poor girl’s statement to the police, it was in the bush. He was said to have told Gift that they were going for prayers. In her statement as quoted in court, she said: “My father, by name Jacob Alonge, used to wake me up at night and said I should follow him for prayers. When we got inside the bush, he would force me and have sexual intercourse with me.”</div><div><br></div><div>In the second statement she made at the state police headquarters, she said: “He threatened me not to tell anybody, and that if I did, he would kill me. One night, he called me and put me on top of a stone and used a razor blade to shave my private part and threatened me not to tell anybody.”</div><div><br></div><div>The bubble, however, burst when Gift became pregnant last year. Members of the Braveheart Initiative Organisation (BHI) took up the case. They arranged for counselling and ante-natal care while her father was arrested.</div><div><br></div><div>At the Ososo Police Station, he was said to have made a statement confessing to the crime of incest, and the case was transferred to the family unit of the State CID in Benin City. Gift was offered shelter by her maternal uncle, Mr. Ukere Adagbogu, who took a keen interest in his niece’s case and was also determined to get justice for her.</div><div><br></div><div>Jacob was subsequently arraigned before the court and he pleaded guilty to the charges. The Magistrate fixed judgement for January 16, 2019</div><div><br></div><div>Tragedy, however, struck on the day fixed for judgment as Gift, her uncle Ukere Adagbogu, Rhoda Braimoh, Promise Ezekiel and the driver of their vehicle, died in an auto crash on their way from Igarra to the court in Benin City to witness the judgment.</div><div><br></div><div>On hearing the news about his daughter’s death, Alonge changed his guilty plea to not guilty, as he presumed that all the witnesses to the case were dead. At the Family Court, Jacob pleaded not guilty to the amended charges preferred against him.</div><div><br></div><div>In the three count amended charges read at the Family Court, Jacob was accused of being in possession without lawful and reasonable excuse, fetish wrap of his late daughter’s pubic hair at Okeh Quarter in Ososo village, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.</div><div><br></div><div>Jacob was accused of having unlawful and indecent carnal knowledge of his biological daughter against the order of nature, and in the process impregnated her. He was said to have repeatedly had carnal knowledge of his daughter without her consent.</div><div><br></div><div>The offences are punishable under sections 213, 358 and 214 of the Criminal Code cap 48 Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria now applicable in Edo State. On August 1 when judgment was delivered, Jacob was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment.</div><div><br></div><div>Alonge was convicted on all three count charges of unlawful possession of fetish wrap of the victims’ pubic hair, unlawfully and indecently having canal knowledge of his biological daughter, repeated sexual assault and for impregnated her.</div><div><br></div><div><div>Delivering judgment in the case, the Presiding Magistrate, D.I Adamaigbo (Mrs) sentenced Jacob Alonge to five years on count one, two years and 14 years respectively on count two and three. The jail terms are to run consecutively.</div><div><br></div><div>Adamaigbo said: “He consecutively had sex with her who is his own daughter and got her pregnant and thereby subjected her to shame and emotional stress. May her soul rest in peace.</div><div><br></div><div>“To serve as a deterrent to others and would be offenders, we are of the opinion that the defendant should not have a space in a decent society.”</div><div><br></div><div>Adamaigbo said the statement of the victim and the evidence of the PW1 confirmed what the victim said that “she was five months pregnant and that she was demoralized, emotionally distressed is sufficient corroboration that the victim was indeed sexually assaulted.</div><div><br></div><div>“It has been established beyond reasonable doubt that the accused had canal knowledge of the victim as she said in her statement. Her statement was corroborated by the statement of the police in evidence.</div><div><br></div><div>“The convict admitted in his statement and the law is that evidence admitted need no further proof. The defence that he was lured into the crime by his own daughter is an afterthought. We therefore find him guilty of each of the counts.”</div><div><br></div><div>Reacting to the judgment, Executive Director of BHI, Priscillia Usiobaifo, said: “We have seen how resilience can prove worthwhile. I am very happy that there is no option of fine because we have had several cases that we won and they would give options of fine. This has encouraged us, and those that died did not die in vain.”</div></div>

Although the incident occurred on Christmas Day at 36, Fadeyi Street, Olowora, the suspect was reportedly arrested on Tuesday following the intervention of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence team in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.<br/>

The Nation gathered that the suspect, who usually assaulted the 16-year-old victim, accused her of being stubborn.<br/>

The suspect, it was gathered, usually “over labored” the teenager, whose mother reportedly abandoned her after the death of her father.<br/>

According to sources, residents of the street revolted against the woman who also used razor blade to cut the victim’s thighs and shaved her hair. They alleged that the woman usually forced the victim to hawk and work into  later hours of the night.<br/>

It was learnt that the residents mobilised to ensure the suspect was apprehended and handed over to policemen from Ketu Police Division, while the victim was taken into protective custody.</div>

The presiding judge, Justice J. K. Omotosho, said that the court was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the convict carried out the act and convicted him without an option of fine.<br/>

Salisu Abdullahi was arraigned on charges that has root in illicit sexual intercourse with an eight-year-old girl (names withheld).<br/>
<br/>
National Agency for the Prohibition in Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, had arraigned the convict on a one-count charge, stating that the convict acted in a manner that contravened the provision of Section 16 of NAPTIP Enforcement and Administration Act, the court heard.<br/>
<br/>
However, counsel to the convict, Mr. Jamilu Ahmed, urged the court to tamper justice with mercy in view of the fact that his client was a first offender.<br/>
<br/>
Ahmed told the court that the convict is married with children, adding that he has an aged mother, who all depend on him for livelihood, noting that Salisu is remorseful and “has been in custody for close to one year.”<br/>
<br/>
Delivering his judgement, Justice J. K. Omotsho resented the unrepentant attitude of the convict, while the trial lasted.<br/>
<br/>
He ordered Salisu to proceed to serve 14 years in jail without an option of fine and also ordered the convict to pay N2 million fine.<br/>

Patience, who hails from Benue State, went missing on August 12, 2015. But reprieve came the way of the kidnapped girl and her family after the Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, ordered an investigation into the matter, which resulted in her release and subsequent reunion with her family.<br/>
<br/>
LEADERSHIP gathered from Patience that her abductor and some Hisbah (Sharia police) personnel had taken her to an imam in Runjin Sambo area of Sokoto with a claim that she wanted to convert to Islam.<br/>
<br/>
Patience said, “I was sent to buy biscuits and on my way I saw him (her abductor) and he persuaded me to come to his bungalow.”<br/>
<br/>
The primary six pupil disclosed that she was not forced into marriage but that her abductor turned her into a sex slave at the house of the Sarkin Baki.<br/>
<br/>
“Yes, he was forcefully making love to me any time he wanted,” she answered to a question on whether she was sexually abused. “They first took me to Sarkin Baki house, and kept me there for seven months before my parents came looking for me.<br/>
<br/>
“They gave me something to drink, but I refused to take the drink, and they took me to one room and locked me inside the room.<br/>
<br/>
“They forcefully made me to turn to Muslim and gave me another name, Aisha. Some people wanted to marry me, but the Sarkin Baki refused and said until I finish Islamic school before they marry me off.<br/>
<br/>
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, a lawyer with a Jos, Plateau State-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), Voice for the Girl’s Child Foundation (VGCF), Barrister Ezekiel Dyagas, who helped in securing Patience’s release, said he was briefed about her case on March 1, 2016, by her brother.<br/>
<br/>
Barrister Dyagas said: “Her brother, who is here with me, has been up and doing since the family realised that the little girl was missing and eventually abducted by one of her neighbours.”<br/>
<br/>
“I promised the family to give me 48 hours and we would be able to trace her whereabouts. I posted her story on the website and you will not believe the response I got.<br/>
<br/>
“Within that 48 hours I was talking to the Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, and I told the girl’s brother that the governor will call him,” he said.<br/>
<br/>
The lawyer praised Tambuwal for ensuring the girl was released to her family.<br/>
<br/>
“In fact, the governor not only called, but he played a vital role towards the freeing of Patience. He acted as a father and we appreciate his role. In short, he was instrumental to her eventual release.<br/>
<br/>
“As I am talking to you, those behind her abduction in Sokoto had been arrested and are going to face prosecution soon,” he said.<br/>
<br/>
He also declared that he is taking the young girl to Benue State on Tuesday on the request of the state government who had also shown interest in her case.<br/>
<br/>
“Since, the commencement of the saga, I have had contact with the state commissioner for women affairs and youth development, and I will not tell you what the state government had promised to do for Patience. If you want to verify, you can call the commissioner.<br/>
<br/>
Patience’s elder brother, Isaac Paul, 28, who had just graduated from the University of Sokoto and is awaiting NYSC call-up, thanked Nigerians for assisting the family to recover their daughter.<br/>
<br/>
He said their mother was late while their father worked as a steward in Sokoto, adding that Patience is the sixth child in the family of nine.<br/>
<br/>
Paul also thanked journalists and the Sokoto State government for wiping their tears, just as he noted that the Benue State government had promised to enrol Patience in school.</div>

The command’s spokesman, DSP Magaji Majiya, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kano.<br/>
He said that the girl was thrown into an old well in Gayawa village, Ungoggo Local Government Area of the state.<br/>
NAN learnt that the girl had spent two days inside the well, where she was allegedly thrown into by her step-mother, a week ago. The girl was subsequently rescued alive by men of the state Fire Service.<br/>
Majiya said that the suspects were apprehended in the village on Sunday following complain by the father of the girl.<br/>
“We have arrested three women in connection with the case and they are now in our custody assisting us in our investigation.<br/>
“The Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Yusuf has directed the transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department, for proper investigation.”<br/>
Majiya added that the commissioner had ordered for thorough investigation to ascertain the suspects individual involvement in the case.</div>

Parading her before newsmen at the state police command in Abeokuta yesterday September 4th, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ilyasu, said the young ladies who were found in the church premises have been taken to a hospital for medical examination.<br/>
<br/>
One of the victims said many of the girls were from broken homes and sought a place to stay before they were lured into prostitution by the supposed pastor.<br/>
<br/>
According to her, they sleep with men for N500 and give the prophetess N200 commission. The teenager said many of them have had multiple abortions so as to continue living in the church and that she has had 5 abortions.<br/>
“I lost my father and decided to stay with the prophetess, Idowu Olupinla, who always prophesied and prayed for me. She said that we should allow the boys who are members of the church who came for crusade to sleep with us in the church premises and pay us N500. So I have been staying with the prophetess for about one year and men have been having sex with us in the church premises, and I have done five abortions with the drug that the prophetess gave us. We are almost 10 girls staying in church of the prophetess as hostages until the police came to rescue us.” Denying the claims, the suspect said “I don’t know them. I have never been involved in anything of the sort they said. I never took any money from them. These are mere allegations against me. I am the founder of the church. All I know is that everybody is free to come and pray in my church and bring either the husband or wife along.”<br/>
The police says she would soon be charged to court for human trafficking and child abuse.</div>

<br/>According to a report on The Sun, a 34-year-old man, Solomon (surname withheld) killed his 11 year old son for sleeping with his 8 year old sister.<br/>
<br/>Confirming the incident, Wilson Inalegwu, the commissioner of police FCT command, described the incident as pathetic and a troubling demonstration that has crept into the Nigerian society.<br/>
<br/>Inalegwu said Solomon has been arrested but urged parents to keep a close eye on their children and be mindful of the kind of movies they are exposed to at home.<br/>
<br/>At the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, where he is being held, Solomon has been bemoaning his action.<br/>
<br/>According to reports, the 34-year-old has been cursing the evil spirit that led his late son into the error of committing incest with his eight-year-old sister (name withheld).<br/><br/>
<br/>Narrating what happened on a Sunday evening, Solomon said that he came home one day in April 2016 and saw his young son engaged in sexual act with his younger sister right in his bedroom.<br/>
<br/>“Victor was my son, an 11-year-old boy. I had been receiving bad reports about him. The height of it was that he started sleeping with his sister, who is eight-years-old. I had been receiving several reports about the ugly incident. Around 4.00 pm, I came back from work and met Victor sleeping with his sister in my bedroom. The stepmother was not at home,” Solomon said.<br/>
<br/>Overcome by anger, he rushed out again, picked up a stick and beat him severely. The beating caused the little boy to go into convulsion and then lost consciousness the next day.<br/>
<br/>He was however rushed to Gwarinpa General Hospital by benevolent neighbours of the family. Sadly, the 11-year-old boy died soon after he got to the hospital.<br/>
<br/>The father, who earlier in the day had gone out was summoned to the hospital by phone. When he got to the hospital and introduced himself, the doctor informed him that his son had died.<br/>
<br/>The doctor detained him on pretext and promptly called the Gwarinpa police station, which sent policemen and Solomon was arrested.<br/>
<br/>The doctor told the police that the boy died as a result of internal injuries he sustained in the course of being beaten by his father.<br/>
<br/>Following his arrest, Solomon from Igbo-Eze North local government area of Enugu state, said: “I wept when the doctor told me that my son had died. I didn’t have the intention to kill my son. I was trying to correct him because of the immoral act he committed. How can I beat my son to death? I couldn’t believe what I saw. I only acted in anger; I never wanted to kill my son.”<br/><br/>
<br/>Speaking on the incident, a neighbour of the bereaved father, Ali Ahmed said: “We heard when the father was beating the child. He beat him to correct him for what he did. The son was very stubborn. The father never had intention to kill his son.<br/>
<br/>“What the doctor did that night in the hospital was bad. How could he call the police to arrest the father of the dead boy? We were expecting the doctor to tell the father how to carry the corpse of his son. It is a lesson to every parent.”<br/>
<br/>Another neighbour, John Gabriel, however, had a contrary view.<br/>
<br/>He said: “What the doctor did was right. The doctor thought that the father would run away upon hearing that his child had died. The parents of the boy are good people. It was me that even called the father on the phone to meet us at the hospital.”<br/>

Narrating how it all started in 2015, she said: “He started sleeping with me in 2015. The first time he did it, I was in my room reading when he came in. He asked me the kind of school I would like to go. Then he came close to me. “When I stood up to go, he asked me to wait and started touching me all over my body. I asked him what he was doing but he told me to keep quiet and immediately pushed me into the bed. “He tied my hands backwards. When he saw that I was shouting, he covered my mouth with his hand, He started doing it increasingly from that time. I always cried and begged him to leave me but he would not listen.” She said she was afraid to discuss her ordeal with anybody because her father threatened to kill her if she did. She, however, said the bubble burst when she began to show signs of pregnancy.<br/>
She said: “When I became pregnant, I didn’t know. My stepmother saw the signs and suspected that I was pregnant. It was when she began to ask me who impregnated me that I told her. I learnt she has moved out of the house.”<br/>

The teenager said her life became more traumatic when her father allegedly commenced the process of aborting the pregnancy. She said the method was crude and opened a chapter of health problems in her life.<br/>
She said: “My father, seeing that I was pregnant, took me to do an abortion. He took me to Elebele and handed me over to his female friend named Peace, who took me to a house in Otu-Aba. “They did not allow me to see the process, but I saw the instruments. It was very painful. After that day, I started bleeding because he didn’t abort the pregnancy completely. I was taken back to Otu-Aba on December 5 and from there, we went to Otu-Asiga to flush the remaining one. “I discovered later that my body system had been messed up. I noticed I was no longer menstruating. It was just recently that I was taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) where an operation was done on me with something like a container inserted into me. They called it a minor operation. I went back to FMC on Thursday to remove the container.”<br/>

Queen said she could no longer go to school because of the problems created by her father. “I feel very bad. I want the police oga (police boss) to put him in prison. He has been doing similar things to many people,” she said.<br/>
Queen’s nephew, David Apigi, who reported the matter to Operation Rescue, asked the police to speedily and diligently prosecute the matter. He confirmed that her niece went through an operation at FMC.<br/>
He said: “The operation was done on her private part and a container was inserted into her. She went back on Thursday to have the container removed,” he said.<br/>

The Coordinator, Operation Rescue, Princess Elizabeth Egbe, said the police had promised to effect the arrest of other suspects after taking Queen’s statement. She said the Officer in Charge, Family Unity, Edith Washington, said the statement of the violated girl would be taken after her medical check.<br/>
She, however, said the NGO had no suspicion that the police were trying to sweep the matter under the carpet until they failed to effect arrest and commence prosecution within a reasonable time frame.<br/>
She said initially, the policemen in charge of the case said they had no money to go to the crime scene. She, however, said the police commissioner later made a financial provision for them to go there.<br/>
She said: “The police said they would commence the arrest of suspects after they get the girl’s statement today after her medical checks. They have not got the statement of the girl. “I don’t have any suspicion that the police are trying to hide the matter. The police said the suspect is in the state CID but we have not sighted him. The police have not been able to invite us officially for a meeting. “For now, I cannot hold them till after she has given her statement. The police said they didn’t have money to go to the crime scene but the commissioner made a provision for them to go there. If they failed to arrest the doctor and the lady, we will commence our campaign.”<br/>
Further lamenting her condition, 27-year-old Joy, who said she was raped serially by Bamekpa when she was between six and seven years old, appealed to the police to diligently handle the matter and ensure that justice is served.<br/>
Recalling the second time the suspect raped her, she said: “While I was playing with other children, he called me and asked me to go to his room and get pineapple. When I went to his room, he came in and shut the door. He held me and pushed me into his bed.<br/>
“While I was shouting, he was laughing at me, boasting that even if I shouted with all my energy, nobody would come and rescue me. I shouted but nobody came.”<br/>
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Bayelsa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Butswat Asinim, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the matter was being handled by the police.  Some hisbah (Sharia police) personnel had taken Patience to an imam in Runjin Sambo area of Sokoto with a claim that she wanted to convert to Islam.<br/>

 “Weighty decision”<br/>
The imam asked of her age and was told she was 14. He sought the opinion of the Sultanate Council who directed the imam not to proceed because she was underage and could not make such a “weighty decision” yet.<br/>

He was instructed to let her go, but the Imam then informed the hisbah. Rather than let her return to her family house, they took her to the Sarkin Baki who claims he provides residence to indigent persons.<br/>

 The “king of strangers” then kept her in his house since September.<br/>

When investigators met with him Friday night, Patience was seen with his other children and family members. He claimed he adopted the girl because he didn’t want to let her be with the hisbah. He, however, allowed her to be attending both Islamic and government junior secondary school for her education.<br/>

A police source told TheCable that when interviewed, Patience claimed she was afraid of returning home because of possible reprisal from her siblings. The alarm Paul Isaac Adaji, father of the teenager, had raised the alarm about her daughter’s disappearance, but it did not gain traction until the case of Oruru started playing out. Adaji, an Idoma from Benue state, said his daughter was forcefully abducted by hisbah in Gidan Kukah, Runjin Sambo area Sokoto, on August 12, 2015.<br/>

 Tambuwal, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Imam Imam, directed that the matter be investigated. The inspector general of police then took up the matter.</div>

The secondary school student was said to have eloped from her parents’ home in Enugu state about four months ago, only to be found pregnant when police officers accosted her.<br/>

She had been declared wanted by her parents and after a frantic search for about 16 weeks, the Festac Town police officers nabbed her at the Amuwo-Odofin branch of Diamond bank, where she had reportedly gone to cash some money, on February 12, 2016.<br/>

After the arrest, it was gathered that she had been living with Idris Umar, a 21-year-old aspiring musician and hair stylist.<br/>
<br/>
While the police officers were about taking the man to court on charges of abduction and rape, the teenager came out to defend him, saying that they had consensual intercourse and that he neither raped nor abducted her.<br/>
<br/>
She said: “Idris did not abduct me and did not rape me either. I love him. He asked me my age. I didn’t want to tell him my real age because if I did, he would see me as a little girl. I told him I was 21.<br/>
<br/>
“I ran away from home out of frustration. I ran away from home last year. I was 17. I was in Senior Secondary Class (SS2). I don’t know why the police arrested Idris. He hadn’t done anything wrong.<br/>
<br/>
“He didn’t rape me. I gave myself to him. I knew what I was doing. He didn’t force or took advantage of me. In fact, he assisted me.”<br/>
<br/>
The young man who was looking rather undisturbed by the whole case, said he would marry the student irrespective of what was being done to prosecute him.<br/>

“I love Chidinma and I don’t want to look elsewhere. She’s my first love and lover. I love her. Yes, I’m ready for marriage. I’m soon going into the music industry; I don’t want women to start chasing and disturbing me after I have made it in music.<br/>
<br/>
“That’s why I want to marry early. If I get into music now, everyone will love me. I wouldn’t know which one has genuine love for me. So, I need to marry now. And Chidinma is my first love. I can’t deny her. I’ll marry her,” he narrated.<br/>

Recalling the circumstance that led to her leaving the house, second child of five, noted that, “We were on the dining table when my younger sister said I should get up that she wanted to sit where I was sitting, I didn’t answer her. She went to sit in another seat. She started insulting me.<br/>

“I had water in my mouth; I spat the water on her. She took hot tea and poured it in my ear. I became angry. I took hot water from the flask and poured her. My father came out. He didn’t ask what happened.<br/>
<br/>
“He ordered me to kneel down. I tried to explain, but he refused to listen. He went into the room, came out with a mop and used the stick part to start hitting me. I told them that I would leave the house.<br/>
<br/>
“He said I should go, after all there was nothing they were doing with me. That wasn’t the first time I had threatened to leave the house. Whenever I threatened them, they would ask me to go.<br/>
<br/>
“They would say I’m not useful to them. That night, I packed my bag and left the house. I took bus and went to Lagos, from Enugu.<br/>
<br/>
“We landed in Lagos around 10pm. The bus stopped us at Mazamaza, which was the last bus stop. I had N50,000 with me. I did concert for a company and they paid me. I lodged in a hotel.<br/>
<br/>
“The next day, I started looking for clues, to know if I could locate where my aunt stays. I stayed in that hotel for a week and two days. It was within that one week that I met Umar. I met him in the saloon where I used to go to fix my nails. We started chatting and became friends and soon fell in love. A few days after, I moved into Umar’s apartment.”<br/>
<br/>
On his part, Umar said he never thought of asking Chidinma where her parents were and incidents that led to her leaving the house because she was always averse to him discussing such topics.<br/>
<br/>
And because he did not want to hurt her feelings, Umar said he allowed her be. Although she told him about her stay with her family in FESTAC area of Lagos.<br/>
<br/>
He noted that, “I thought she was staying with her uncle. Whenever I pressed her, she would tell me to leave the matter alone. She told me she was 21.<br/>
<br/>
“We started living together in November. In December, I saw a message in her email; I realized she was having issues with her mom. She now told me everything. I was the one that told her to start picking her mom’s call.<br/>
<br/>
“I got to know she was pregnant. I said I would take her to her parents and introduce myself. We agreed to raise money, so that we could go to her parents. I could have called her mom, but I didn’t want to hurt her. She wouldn’t like it if I called her mum.”<br/>
<br/>
Chidinma explained as well that she did not tell Idris the story of how she ran away from home because she did not want him to know.<br/>

In her confession, Chidinma said that she lied to him that I she did not have anywhere and he asked her to stay with him then but when he read her e-mails he saw messages from her mother.<br/>
<br/>
“When he saw the messages, he started asking questions. By then, my mom had already started calling, begging me to return home. I could have gone back home, but my dad, who hit me with the mop stick, didn’t even call.<br/>
<br/>
“That was why I refused to go back home. He didn’t even call to ask how I was. He didn’t care. I stiffened my heart. I refused to go home. I started planning to get a job in Lagos.<br/>
<br/>
“Yes, I used to sleep with Idris, but not always. When I discovered I was pregnant, I told Idris. He said I shouldn’t worry, that he wasn’t going to deny the pregnancy.<br/>
<br/>
“We began planning our marriage in earnest. Idris said he needed to save some money, in order to follow me to see her parents for proper introductions and preparation for the marriage rites. He even took her to Kogi State, to meet his family.<br/>
<br/>
“The police took me to Festac Police Station. They gave me a phone to call my mom. My mom didn’t send any money. She tricked me. She wanted me to go to the bank, so that police would arrest me. They asked me who I was staying me; in order not to create more trouble for myself, I mentioned Idris. I’m in love with Idris. Love is a strong feeling that binds people together.<br/>

“I have strong feelings for Idris. He didn’t treat me bad. He took me to his house, fed and bought clothes for me. I don’t see my sleeping with him as paying him. I’m ready to marry him. I don’t think my parents will say no to our marriage.<br/>

“To me, Idris didn’t do anything wrong. If he was using me, he wouldn’t have taken me to his family. He’s not my first lover. I knew what I was doing when I accepted his advances,” she explained.</div>

A newborn baby died after she was believed to have been thrown from the 18th floor of an apartment in Danau Kota, Malaysia on Monday, February 29.<br/>

According to Wangar Maju district police chief superintendent Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif, the baby's mother, 39, allegedly threw her baby from the unit's balcony at 3am.<br/>

The woman who has a five-year-old daughter, was going through a divorce and had rented a room at the apartment from a married couple. The shocked couple claimed not to know that the woman was pregnant as she was plump. They however said they heard her moaning in pain before the incident.<br/>
