Chamberlin Ojoko, 39, killed Chinonye Ella, 25, at Ezeakam Eziudo community in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo State, on July 20, 2015. He then buried her in a shallow grave. The duo met in a bus in December 2014. They chatted and exchanged phone numbers. Thereafter, they started dating.
Chinonye lived in Umuahia, while Ojoko resides in Port Harcourt. Ojoko regularly invited her to Owerri, where they would lodge in a hotel and have fun. This went on until Chinonye became pregnant and Ojoko wasn’t comfortable with it because he is married and his wife is also pregnant. So he plotted to kill Chinonye.
He invited her to Imo again and they met at an uncompleted building owned by one Dr Maduakolam Ukaegbu. There, he strangled her to death and buried her. Believing that he had covered his deed, he returned to his pregnant wife in Port Harcourt. But unknown to him, a certain little girl had seen him.
She told the owner of the building and the police got Ojoko arrested. The police also learnt that Ojoko threw away Chinonye’s handset and as it stands now, locating her relations is difficult. They’re now calling on members of the public to assist with information about her. Chinonye resided in Umuahia, Abia State, before her demise…
